So, we all knew this was going to happen, it was just a matter of when. Honestly, I was a bit surprised when I had originally heard the news, but I was a bit interested.
The first misconception people have is that Eli Roth is actually remaking his own film. It’s understandable why some people may think this, because in a shitty attempt at click-bait, some sites out there make it sound like Roth is back behind the camera. That’s not the case, and those writers shelling that bullshit out should be ashamed of themselves.
Instead, Roth is a an executive producer on this project. That being said, he’s also stated that he’d like to see Travis Zariwny’s interpretation of his script. Once again, this proves that it would be pointless to remake his own film. Sheesh, the shit you read on the web these days, huh?
As I said above, we knew this remake was coming. It was a bit surprising, because the news just hit when Cabin Fever: Patient Zero had literally just been released. It was a wtf kind of moment, but whatever. After all, with Roth supporting it, and the general concept, I’d like to see what could come of a remake; not only as a horror fan, but as someone that studies film in general. I mean, it could be cool to see someone handed the same script as someone else, and see what they do with the story.
Well, we’ve now got our first little taste of the Cabin Fever remake, which will be released on February 12th, which is my birthday, none-the-less. Check out the new Cabin Fever remake trailer below:
I hate to say this, but after watching the trailer, I’m sort of left thinking: why?
Honestly, it doesn’t look too different than the original, other than the fact that they may be taking more of a serious approach in terms of direction and characters. However, that was one of the things that really set the original apart, and made viewers fall in love with it.
Then again, to be fair, it’s not like the original Cabin Fever had an amazing trailer, either:
So, what do you all think of the new Cabin Fever trailer? Look good? Look awful? Pointless? Let us know by leaving a comment below!
