Someone asked me if X-Files could count as horror because of it's creepy episodes...
thinking of Tales from the Crypt which was consistant I said no.
Anyone else have an arguement for or against the Files as a horror television show?
I've got the Cigarette Smoking Man in my horror-signature

... Against the case, I haven't actually seen the show XD
I've never really been a fan of the X-Files :S
I've seen bits and pieces but almost never an episode from start to finish - unless you count the Simpson's episode
I used to watch a few episodes from time to time... I haven't watched a whole one in quite some time, though. No, I don't think it could be classified as horror.
It all depends on which episode you are watching. The mytharc(running story) episodes are all sci-fi obviously, but there are some Monster of the Week episodes that are horror and have your normally horror elements like monsters or ghosts and what not. One episode that I remember being horror is called "Grotesque".
The series, as a whole, is not horror. But, several of the shows were scary. The one with Mrs. Paddock is seriously creepy.
jgordon-to caroline par-in answer to your comment about the x files tv series-i think imo if you think of all the hype about alien beings out there in space-you might consider it horror-especially the way some of it's episodes are depicted-who knows what horror really is out there
I would consider The X-Files a sci-fi and horror. A couple of horrifying episodes to look for:
Grotesque
Alpha
Agua Mala
Arcadia
Roadrunners
*pardon me, I am a HUGE X-Files fan.

I consider it more Sy-Fy then Horror.

The Mythology parts of the show are very sci-fi but the 'monster-of-the-week' episodes can be pretty terrifying.
