I simply cannot find Santa's Slay. I remember seeing it on television one time, but I didn't watch it because it was in the middle of the movie.

I'd kill to direct a remake of Poltergeist, They Live, or Fright Night (but i think all of those are taken)
Failing that...hmmm....Sleepaway Camp? I Spit on Your Grave? Slumber Party Massacre!
I could do this all night...

Is They Live being remade already? I think the other two you mentioned are...
Apparently an I Spit on Your Grave remake is already in production. That's going to be a hard one for them to be able to capture the same feeling as the original.

They're in talks for THEY LIVE: http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/12/03/they-live-remake/
I had a pitch idea for the "I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE" remake, and I read in the trades that they were looking for pitches about a year ago, but as I am lacking an agent I couldn't get my foot in the door.
I was going to focus on re-working the attackers to be a little more believable and making the attack more brutal without descending into ridiculous-ness. I also had ideas to show Jenny dealing with the aftermath in a more gradual/less smooth fashion, and an epilogue that addressed what became of her. Really I had a ton of ideas....
Hopefully, the lucky guy who lands the screenwriting gig keeps similar things in mind. It could be a powerful film, or a steaming pile of dookie.
But yeah, I'd totally be down for a remake of Sleepaway Camp!

Sounds like you would have given it your all. I'd love to read some more of your ideas, and written content. I bet you would be awesome in a horror role-play.

Checking it out now. If you want to check out a past role-play we did on here you can head on over to the games section and look at the TalkHorror Act role-play. It was based on Battle Royale.12-30-2009, 08:09 AM
Man, Battle Royale was astonishing! I'll have to peruse that!

Yep. I love Battle Royale, and the people that watched it with me really enjoyed it as well. I was amazed and how well the RP was played out.

I'd like to see a remake of Night Of The Scarecrow.

Topic #2: RP was not as structured as you're likely used to, though it was indubitantly (sic, I just know it ._.) fun
. We're definitely due for another one here if you'd like to start anything!
Topic #1:
Puppet Master - It had the potential to be a gothic horror classic... unfortunately, I think it had much too little suspense as well as much too little character development to be a success >.< . My remake would have an even darker "supernatural mystery" feel to it whilst keeping the violence, and definitely keeping the stop-motion effects (PM would NOT be the same without 'em IMO!)
The Funhouse - I recall this one being much darker and more surreal when I saw bits and pieces of it as a child... I'd put in more of the atmosphere (Alive, alive, alive...) plus more plot/suspense in general, take out a lot of "cheeze"
Neon Maniacs - Another one with lotsa potential, at least for something cool and cheezy. I actually got to about 50 pages in a darker and more violent remake I was writing (mostly for kicks)
Alone in the Dark ('80s version) - Good premise, a bit too lightweight...
Hell Night - Another that's a bit too lightweight for it's premise, I'd keep the more unique elements but add more slasher/monster staples (For one things, have all 4 children somehow survive instead of just the males, and give them a larger group to kill)
House - Keep pretty much everything from the original, but amp it up and add more; more monsters, more neighbors, more flashbacks, horror and humor.
Spookies - Add together the best parts of both the original "Twisted Souls" and Spookies, keep the monsters and more but make it more a haunted house deal with a deeper plot (Peter and Meegan are actually searching for Billy, but Duke and his cohorts are looking for their party) instead of just a zany stalk-and-kill

Santa's Slay - I want this to be a more hardcore horror movie rather than a shitty, stupid comedy horror.
Westworld - Though, technically sci-fi, I think they can do a lot of updating in terms of computer animation and robot action. It won't be as good as the original, it still would be pretty good.
Street Trash - Honestly, I think this could use an update... if done right.
C.H.U.D. - Imagine the CHUDs only %50 better and more brutal.

A remake of House would be the Bees Knees. So would House II
Ad CHUD would be a darling!
Basket Case anyone?

God yes, CHUD; IMO that movie needed a lot more monsters, a lot more of a "rising action" and a lot more of a developed plot. I think the monsters were brilliant, but everything going on around 'em was just plain underdone.
Basket Case? I don't know, as low-budget as it was it did have an absurd charm to it that would be hard to genuinely replicate... I think maybe if it was taken another direction and played straighter (At least a bit) it could be successful... ...Personally, I think I'd make a great Duane for the modern age X)

Go fetch us a budget and we will get right on it. Basket Case: 2011!
