Trioxin149 Wrote:Your right about the alcohol, but like I said, it isn't an overnight thing unless you OD, it takes time. Your liver doesn't shut down after one night of heavy drinking. Just as heroin, unless you overdose, kills you overtime. And from what I've seen the main reason heroin kills people is either 1.) Dirty needles or 2.) It's too pure. And as stated in other areas, with each good thing, comes 5 bad things. And I've never actually heard of heroin being given over the counter, interesting. Will have to check that out. If I'm not mistaken heroin comes from the opium poppy plant which I think is in South America.
Just like marijuana, I never hear of people driving and killing people while high, and as far as I know there are no serious side effects of marijuana other than it makes most people a moron and kills brain cells. I'm not against legalizing marijuana as I think it would actually help our economy and eliminate a ton of criminals if it could be bought at Walmart versus on the streets.
But yeah, Bojangles is a fat cow :peace:
The reason "Too pure" Heroin kills is because unlike Tylenol there aren't any directions on how to take it. There used to be, and no one ODd unless they REALLY tried.
Heroin comes from Morphine, which comes from the Papaver Somniferum / Opium Poppy, and South America doesn't really have much. Most of it is grown in India, and some of those hot middle east looking countries.
The Poppy is probably the oldest medicine still in use for anything. You can see it on wall paintings going back thousands of years. It's been cultivated since... I think I saw someone once say it's the oldest thing cultivated. Period.
In the more modern world (After Rome got big) the Romans used it for everything from making sex last longer, to giving it to the army to conquer places.
Morphine was first discovered in Opium by a German in the 1800s, and once it was brought down to that level they found Opium sap contains Morphine, Codeine, and Thebaine along with a few other things. Thebaine can be turned into Pain Killers, and Codeine should be obviouse which is used to make Hydrocodone and OxyCodone (Vicodin, Lortab, others, and then Percocet, Oxy Contin) and so on.
You can also make other pain killers from it, but Morphine is still the Golden Standard. Heroin is made when Morphine was boiled on a stove, and an acid was added (Like Aspirin) and the person who did this named it Heroin.
The main problem America and other countries saw with Heroin wasn't death, wasn't crime, it was addiction.... Heroin and Morphine technically are the same style drug. The main difference is people say Heroin is about 3 X stronger. And it hits faster, which is why in England, Heroin is available by Prescription. This is because if you are in enough pain, Morphine may not work, Heroin will.
Dilaudid is one of the strongest pain killers available period here in the states. It's over 10X stronger than Morphine, and 7 X stronger than Heroin.
It's used for chronic pain more because it's also not as addictive as Heroin or Morphine, yet works great.
I speak from experience. I have to slipped discs in my spine which makes walking excruciating and when you called me fat in that other thread, well, I was bigger and I'm no where near 400 pounds like you thought. But having to pieces of bone, grinding on your nerve endings, is going to kill you ability to work out.
Opiates in general, don't affect the human body. If they weren't addictive, they'd be the most popular thing on the planet. Because they won't harm you, or your body, no matter how long you use them. I have a quote from a Surgeon General in the US admitting they can't find anything harmful about it.
Bet that quote won't ever make it to TV.
As for Pot, I've read a lot about this too, and my Uncle has a prescription for it for his MS. It doesn't make you stupid or kill brain cells.... At all. Alcohol has that award.
Pot actually won't make you stupid. The real health problem from it, is smoke. Inhaling ANY smoke will harm your lungs. This is not an issue, even my Uncle has a Vaporizer now. He's been doing this for a while now, ever since it became legal medically, and there are no issues he's having. Other than he has a better sense of humor.
Also, from a purely scientific area of viewing; Drugs are the reason we are who we are. No one SxE has ever made good music, no one sober has ever dreamed of flying in air plains, and even Coca Cola was invented by a Morphine addict.
I have video from the History channel if this seems shocking and you want proof. (Hooked: Illegal Drugs and how they got that way).
