Yeah, worryingly, I haven't heard much news about this one. Unless JC3 is a true sleeper-hit, I can see it being either quietly cancelled or ending up as something you find in $5 DVD bins

Unfortunately, it probably won't get a theatrical release since the market for this movie might not be big. The only thing that I can hope for is that the entire trilogy becomes a cult hit, which I believe the first two are nearing cult status. Sad because it's such an underrated series that brought one of the slashers to the screen.

Yea Jeepers Creepers is pretty awesome.

I agree with both of you. Direct-to-video is probably the most likely route.

I wouldn't mind a bargain bin release per se, what worries me is the possibility it'll show itself to have bargain bin production value, complete with too-obvious CGI, bit actors from teen drama shows, the whole nine yards...

If Salva gets a subsidiary of a major studio conglomerate, it might not be too bad. What I worry about is that nobody will know or care about it because of it's "dollar bin" value, which is a sad fate for what could have been a great trilogy.

I knew it was fake because I remember the director saying it was going to be a western? Plus it wouldn't make sense to have it take place ten years or so after her first encounter with The Creeper, since he only comes around every twenty years or so.

New developments have surfaced since that rumor. The prologue of the movie is supposed to be a western but the majority of the film follows the sister from the first.

The Daily Blam spoke with director Victor Salva while in post-production on Rosewood Lane, and had this to say about the status of Jeepers Creepers 3:
"It has come close several times to going before cameras, and I hope someone sees the wisdom in shooting this, the third and final Creeper tale, I still can't tell you what the fate of this third film will be. According to IMBD we are already filming - I guess they started without any of us!"
The director also says it won't be in 3D:
"3D would absolutely devastate the script - since the added 2 to 3 million in production costs would strip the screenplay down to a point where it would be smaller in scale than the original Jeepers Creepers. And then even that money dried up. I would say the film has been on and off the front burner at least nine times during the last few years."

Why not just make it, go straight to VHS and reboot the films without that fat fudge.

This is actually somewhat depressing because people don't seem to realize just how much potential lies within this franchise. It's Salva's brainchild.

Yeah Freddy, Salva sounds like he has moved on - which puts this project all but dead.
I am surprised though, that Lionsgate hasn't given it a go.

From WorstPreviews:
"Jeepers Creepers" hit theaters back in 2001 and grossed $59 million worldwide on a $10 million budget. The sequel was released two years later and grossed $63 million on a $17 million budget. The third installment was ready to go soon after, but ended up in development hell.
Director Victor Salva wants nothing more than to complete the trilogy, but has found it difficult to find a studio to back the third film. "I would say the film has been on and off the front burner at least nine times during the last few years," he said. "It has come close several times to going before cameras, and I hope someone sees the wisdom in shooting this, the third and final Creeper tale."
Salva added that he wants the final movie to lead into a TV series that will explore the origins of the monster. "The third 'Jeepers' film, and I can't tell you how it ends but it is a real show-stopper, I designed to kick off a thirteen episode season of a TV series, that explores The Creeper, his truck, and the massive 'Cathedral' like Creeper-lair they find in the third film."

I would love to see a third Jeepers Creepers, but it will probably end up like Dog Soldiers 2 never making it to the public :reddisgust:

What the fuck is the matter with studios? Oh wait, it's remakes their after. I see that Salva has created such a charismatic villain that we could have the opportunity to see what his secrets are. This is one of the few villains that I wouldn't mind seeing a backstory to because it's in the mind of the maker.

I had read elsewhere it was on the cards but I've read a lot of things to be fair... I'm with Freddy though. This is one of the most sorely under-developed villians with a hell of a lot of potential. I hope we see more.

The IMDb page for it has 2013 as a release date. It probably doesn't mean much, but is the cast confirmed? IMDb seems to have lot of cast listed for a sequel that hasn't really gone anywhere.
There was a deleted scene from part 2 where The Creeper used one of his victims like a ventriloquist's dummy. They show some storyboard artwork of the scene, as well. They scratched it because it would have require The Creeper to talk. I actually really like that idea.

Hmmm. That would be interesting but I like the silent no-talk Creeper. I feel like you don't need to hear him to know his motives.

Always felt Jeepers Creepers was a missed opportunity... I loved most of part 1. The Creeper had such potential.... Here is a big, ugly, mean, bad ass demon who wants to eat parts of your body to replace his own.
Creepy as hell until he starts whistling! If the Creeper can whistle why the hell cant he speak? If they lost the comedic elements we would of had a top notch horror villain imo
