After watching The Uninvited, I knew that I was going to have to see the original movie. In this case, it was A Tale of Two Sisters. Not to mention, the cover art for AToTS is so bad ass who wouldn't want to see it? Boy, was I in for a let down. When it started off, I thought it would be awesome. Just the look of the film, the music, etc... However, the movie just kept dragging on. If they would have condensed it down, it would have been a lot better, in my opinion. I convinced some of my friends to watch it with me and I noticed they started to fall asleep on me. The movie was just way too long and honestly I started to get tired with it. It reached a stage where I was just thinking to myself; "Please, just fucking end already." Yes, I got all of the twists, I knew what was going on, etc... Some people call this movie a masterpiece and I honestly don't know how they came to that conclusion.

Anyone else have any opinions on this movie? So far, this is my least favorite foreign film I've seen.
it was gayer then Boy George!
Haven't seen this one but honestly Uninvited wasn't all that either. Very few actual horror moments (just the stepmom acting weird and ghosts showing up and shit), and since I had figured out the "main twist" rather early it kind of ruined the rest of the film as I kept trying to find out how the rest of the plot points connected to the "surprise" Tongue.

I can understand the "dragged out" problem. Although I really want to see an "epic" horror film every once in a while, when time isn't filled up well it can really defeat the film's effectiveness as a whole. Was there anything else that really differentiated the American and Japanese(?) versions?
In my opinion, there's a lot of unnecessary stuff in AToTS. Which is a reason why the movie just drug on and on.
Hmmm I was looking at the case in HMV yesterday but decided against it... By the sounds of it I did the right thing.
You did.
I haven't seen this movie but The Uninvited sucked!!!
I liked The Uninvited better than this.
That's a shocker.
Watch A Tale of Two Sisters and you'll see what I mean. Smile
