I saw Quarantine back in '08 and LOVED it. I am FINALLY getting around to seeing the foreign original [Rec]. I am giddy like a little school girl to leave work and open my mailbox. I'm gonna want to talk all about it tonight....GAME OOOOOON!

I liked REC, muy excelente. Andrea was cute and annoying like the reporter in quarantine. I felt Quarantine explained more of the background...or maybe its just been awhile since I saw it. REC had a more realistic feel.
Love it when the mom gets hers......ha. Its just tonsilitis bitch.

I never saw [REC] but I saw Quarantine and loved it. It's funny because everybody says that Quarantine was terrible but I really enjoyed it. Then I saw [REC] 2 and thought that it was very well done and very terrifying. I still haven't seen [REC].
Aw shit...now I need to see #2...it sounds like it continues right after where they leave off in the story? I can't believe some said Quarantine was terrible..... Takes all kinds. I freaking love outbreak zombie movies!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you see Diary of the Dead?
[REC] 2 does pick up right after the first one, from what I read but there is a twist. The zombies in [REC] are not what they appear to be.

Diary of the Dead was a decent concept. Although, I think I'm over the home footage feel that Blair Witch started. I get motion sickness easy :zombie: blaaaa
I don't see why people didn't enjoy Quarantine. It was basically a shot-for-shot remake of [REC]. However, I did like the ending of [REC] just a little more. [REC] 2 let me down. It does take place right after and it follows a SWAT team. The SWAT team is probably more ignorant than the people whom were trapped in the building in the original. I thought they were going to kick some ass, but instead, they insisted on being pussies.
WORD! The ending was culo muy mal (really bad ass)! The spanish visual effects were sweet.
All right, so maybe I will skip dos. I hate when all the characters are such wussies. SOMEBODY has to kick ass.....but this twist that you speak of Fred has me curious. I may have to watch it..... but I got the Crazies coming tomorrow...
I don't think they acted like pussies at all, actually. They really didn't know what they were up against and they were out-numbered.

They're a SWAT team, they have guns, the "zombies" do not. Being outnumbered and being outnumbered against unarmed peple while you have plenty of guns and ammo are two very different things. Also, they knew some shit was going down in the building, so they had a little preparation. Let me tell you something, if I was in a SWAT team and a person with blood spewing out of their mouth was in front of me, they were clearly out of their mind, not responding and then ran at me in an aggressive manner, I would blow their head off, as would any real SWAT team. Instead, these guys tried to talk with them.

"You need to come with us, Miss. Miss, are you okay? Miss we're here to help you."

Meanwhile, SWAT team lets the woman tear one of their friends apart by biting him. Damn, they know what they're doing.

I had that problem with [REC] 2. I liked the movie, but I was disappointed with the SWAT team. I thought it would have been much more bad ass. These motherfuckers may as well have been equipped with a pack of M&M's instead of guns.

I'm sure most SWAT teams won't shoot at an unarmed civilian. I think it's their code that they have to try to apprehend the civilian before they shoot or they could be charged for her dead, especially if she is sick. Just because she has blood in her mouth doesn't mean you should automatically shoot her... which is why this movie feels more real than anything else. The audience knows something that the characters in the movie don't and that's another reason why I like it. Once she starts attacking the person that's when they pull her off but again they're not going to kill her unless she poses an immediate threat to their lives and they don't know that... yet.
I could maybe see them acting that way with the first one. After they try apprehending someone and losing a friend in the process, I would think that they would learn something. In other words, these people are fucked, they killed your friend/team-mate by biting him, don't try the same approach next time. At least try shooting them in the leg on sight. If my friend was getting eaten alive in front of me, I wouldn't try using my words in an attempt to apprehend them.
I think in the second one they were only told it was a medical quarantine but the SWAT team in [REC] 2 made it pretty far in the movie. Once they realized that the civilians were a threat, that's when they started to shoot and kill them. It's all about build up.

[REC] would have been a tad bit better if only I figured out how to turn on the damn English subtitles sooner. I watched half of the movie listening to them speaking Spanish. I'm gonna have to rent Quarantine one of these days.
Quarantine isn't bad. Not bad for a remake that was being made while [REC] was sort of in production.
Quarantine is almost a shot-for-shot remake of [REC].
