I know I can't be the only one that hates the following things and one of them just happened to me.
1: I think it's gay when you hang out with someone, or have a friend in your group that just will not fucking stop texting. I mean, you have your friends right there with you. Do you really need to talk with other people that are not around by sending little messages via text while you stare at your phone forever? There was a guy in the theaters one time that was surrounded by friends on each side and instead of talking to them, or watching the movie, he just sit there constantly looking at the phone on his lap.
2: When you hang out with someone, let them come over, or you go to their house and they play video games and use a headset while doing so. I just went through this shit. I let someone come over, told them they could post up here for the night, they popped in a video game and I didn't even talk to them for hours. Yes, I'm being serious. I thought maybe we could play some games, watch some movies, etc... Whatever, I didn't give a damn what we did. Well, he pops his video game in and literally just talks to his "internet friends"
for hours. Some of my other friends say that they have been in that situation before and how gay it was. Well, I realized that shit last night.
Of course I played some games, watched flicks, etc... All while he sit in the same room talking to internet people, lying to them constantly. I guess when you're a loser with no friends in real life, you can be whatever you want on the internet. Seriously, it was lie after lie after lie. Goddamn, this guy will never spend another night at my house. It might even be time to go back to ignoring him and his phone calls.

It's not that I crave a certain amount of attention, or anything like that, but I don't know why he would even want to hang out with people in real life when it's obvious he's addicted to playing with his internet pals. I guess everyone in real life knows him and how much he lies, but the people on the internet don't, so he can lie to them all he wants? Dunno...
Some people just suck at being social.
The internet and online games help them avoid social situations. Sometimes ppl just suffer from anxiety issues and can't be around other ppl or groups...and then there r ppl who r addicted to games and their phone and don't get they r just being plain rude.

but at the last wedding I went to (thanks Mom) I felt more out of place where one half was far removed family members and the rest was extreame upper crust I'm-better-than-you-and-here's-why...

Well, then he would probably bring his system over. I think I'll just invite him over, order pizza, drug his soda and then:
A) Kill him when he falls asleep.
or
B) Plant my nuts on his forehead while he's asleep, snap a picture and send it to his internet friends.
They would be fucking amazed. Firstly, he would have a nutsack on his face and secondly, they would find out he was lying just by looking at him.
Here's another big question I have and I am completely serious. Why do some people lie so much, even when they do not have to? Even when there is no need at all to lie, they do it anyway. I'm not talking about lying to people over a video game, either. This dude lies to anyone and everyone both in real life and on the internet, even when the lie is just unnecessary. It's like he will tell a lie just to tell a lie. Fucking weird.

in this case, a user of friends who would otherwise open up an evening to spend with them...

I had my whole psychological explination on self confidence and compulsive lying disorders typed out and then my flippn phone died @*$(%&#%!!!

Like carolyn said, this guy/kid has confidence issues. Bottom line, making shit up to ppl he will prob never see is easy and makes him feel good and he doesn't risk rejection.
Everyone lies from time to time, but when it is defined as compulsive lying or pathological lying (a sociopath... a good characteristic of any horror movie psycho) the person lies routinely. It is out of habit like this guy; 2nd nature.
These severe cases can actually start to believe the own lies they tell. Their reality is skewed. Lying is comforting to them and provides escape; just another form of addiction like alcohol, drugs, sex, etc. An escape from dealing with issues.
Usually compulsive liying is just one small symptom of a much larger personality disorder; narcissism, borderline personality, bipolar......

Hell yeah i want attention when im out with friends im one needy mofo but thats what expected when you choose to hang out as a group,aint no point feelin bad about wanting to be treated with the common courtesy of ppl sharing a conversation with the person or ppl they are in the same room as.

I have. He's lied for quite some time, but I cannot fucking stand it. The only reason I'm still friend with him is probably because I've known him for so long. I can't fucking stand liars as I never lie to anyone. It's pointless and worthless.
