Hey guys! I wanted to share with the TalkHorror crew the animated mythology/horror film I'm currently working on: Kaptara.

We anticipate completing the movie by October 1st, 2011 and would love your feedback.

Kaptara is a retelling of the Greek Myth of Theseus and his epic battle with the Minotaur. More than a thousand years before Leonides led his 300 Spartans against the might of Xerxes, Athens was the first spark of reason and free thought in the ancient world. But the fledgling city-state was threatened on all sides by primordial societies, hostile, powerful and cruel, each threatening to snuff out the light of civilization before it began. The mightiest of these was Kaptara…

Here are some of our still images so far (we're hoping to have a rudimentary trailer by April):

What we're attempting is a 300 meets Jaws (ancient weaponry versus a man-eating super beast who sneaks around tearing people to shreds). Basically, it's a fantasy/mythology/horror film, with a dash of steampunk for extra spice. LOL

Is this something you’d like to see? Any advice?

So I take it it's animated?
Indeed. Thoughts?

Hey! I resemble that remark! Punch in the face...
It looks pretty damn interesting. I haven't seen many indie animated movies, especially those that were computerized... with that said, the animation looks crisp.
I'm definitely a fan of the Minotaur legends, and have been wanting to see good steampunk on the screen! Is the labyrinth element going to be in your film? That could be a big source of good scares.

Aside from that, I'd like to know more about the film at this stage before giving feedback. I think the link to your main site could be broken. 300 meets Jaws has me intrigued by itself, but there's still a lot of things that could mean tonally.
Thanks, Freddy!

And Thanks for the heads-up about the link, Briggs. I fixed it in the original post, and here it is again: http://kaptaramovie.com/

There's a pretty good amount of info on the site but I'll definitely answer any questions you have here.

The labyrinth is definitely a major aspect of the film—at least half of the story takes place inside it, and it's where we get some of our steampunk action. I'm glad you're excited about that aspect of it. We all have hard-ons for steampunk and used the idea of a more technologically advanced society subjugating the Athenians to work some of that into our story.

As for the 300/Jaws reference—it's really just an easy way of saying that we have a group of ancient Greeks (with a fearless leader) fighting against the subjugation of a big evil, and coming head to head with a monster (who some refuse to even believe is real) who keeps popping up out of nowhere to tear people to shreds. And who, of course, is incredibly difficult to kill.

If you have time Briggs, check out the site and let us know what you think.

And thanks again guys for taking the time to take a look at what we've got!
This bad-boy is totally coming along, guys! We've gotten the finished anamatic and totally plan on sitting around to watch it with popcorn and all the fixings, just like it was a real movie. James (KaptariMind) is totally stoked. Hell, we all are. His wife did the voice for one of the girls who gets eaten, so she's really looking forward to seeing herself get munched on. LOL

If you haven't done so, get your asses over to our facebook page and "LIKE" us! Because you love me, and want to support all of my endeavors. LOL http://www.facebook.com/Kaptara
