You can treat this as a rumor for now, but Gunnar Hansen revealed that he believes the film will open immediately following the events of the original. Here's what he had to say: "The opening of the movie is the last scene of the original movie and so it starts right at the beginning. In fact, they're using some of the footage of Leatherface, of me, dancing, at the beginning. They're using that footage as the opening shot, I think. I read the script, it looks pretty good. I can say that because I'm extremely critical of the sequels and the remakes."
A man named Dan Yeager will be playing Leatherface. Director John Lussenhop describes the 6’ 6” actor as having "huge farm boy arms, a brooding brow. He’s quiet, circumspect, and immediately struck a menacing chord with me. After five minutes, I could no longer think of anyone else for the role."
John Dugan reprises his role as the "Grandfather."
Original Leatherface actor Gunnar Hansen will have a cameo appearance.
Actress Marilyn Burns (Sally from the original) is set to have a cameo appearance as a character named "Verna Carson."
Richard Riehle will play the Sawyers family attorney "Farnsworth."
Scott Eastwood will portray "Deputy Carl Hartman," a young officer who is battling a powerful attraction to Heather while hunting Leatherface.
Keram Malicki-Sanchez plays Ryan's friend.
Rapper/R&B artist Trey Songz makes his acting debut with this film. He will play a character named "Ryan" and the boyfriend of Alexandra Daddario's character.
Paul Rae plays the town mayor "Burt Hartman."
Thom Barry plays the role of "Sheriff Hooper."
Shaun Sipos plays "Darryl" in the film, a hitchhiker along for the ride who knows more than he lets on.
Alexandra Daddario plays the lead female character "Heather Miller."
Original writer/director Tobe Hooper is rumored to have a cameo appearance in the film.
Actor Scott Eastwood (youngest son of Clint Eastwood) will play the lead male character "Carl."
Actress Tania Raymonde ("Alex Rousseau" in the hit series Lost) plays "Nikki" the best friend to the "Heather" character.
One of the producers was quoted saying: "I'm excited to re-conceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy. Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D."
Bill Moseley will be playing a character named "Drayton Sawyer" a nod to actor Jim Siedow, who appeared in the first two original films.
Actor Bill Moseley also played "Chop-Top" in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
Director John Luessenhop also helmed Takers.
Producer Mark Burg has been quoted saying the following about the possible storyline: "It's 35 years later, there's a relative going back. Why is he going back? I don't want to set it in a dusty town. How do we make it more urban but keep that feel. There will be some relatives, some new people. There's still the subtext of 'are they eating these people?' The whole idea of cannibalism, we're bringing it back."
Co-writer Adam Marcus also wrote/directed Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday.
Stephen Susco (The Grudge) wrote an early draft of the script, which has reportedly been scrapped.
It was once rumored that a cult may somehow be involved in the storyline.
Originally titled Leatherface 3D when it was still thought to be a sequel.
This will obviously be in 3D.
Platinum Dunes sold the rights to the franchise to Twisted Pictures (Saw films) after the studio felt that it was now dead and there was no more money to be made.
Originally started out as a sequel that was described as being more of a "reboot," then it was hinted at being yet another remake, but its now confirmed to be a sequel that takes place after the events of the original 1974 Tobe Hooper film, which the producers hope will spark life into the franchise
I LOVE those movies (except for TCM:the Next Generation) so I'll be interested to see this it sounds good to me
Ooooh boy, where to start on this one?

"This will obviously be in 3D"
- obviously for no artistic reason
"Original Leatherface actor Gunnar Hansen will have a cameo"; "Actress Marilyn Burns (Sally from the original) is set to have a cameo appearance as a character named 'Verna Carson.'" - Blatant pandering? Trying in the dumbest way possible to capture the spirit of the original?

I'll stop there. That's good enough... for now.

yeah I tend to agree with what you said Mr, Briggs I still want to see it because all of them have some merit except for TCM The Next Generation and because I want to see what they do with it
I love how these directors and writers believe that they are doing the modern generation of horror fans a favor by introducing them to these slashers by remaking and sequel-ing them. If they want to bring the serial killer to new generations as well as to "capture the original feel," then release the original. What these idiots probably won't understand is that what made the original so scary was how real, unsettling and gritty it was. How, the minute Leatherface appears, it's silent and almost surreal. How the red door can lead to anywhere and once you get dragged to the other side, it's over with. It was psychological to a point. But no, they'll amp this one up with blood, boobs, shrill music and flashy special effects.
The TCM franchise went downhill after the Original. Cant understand how Tobe Hooper couldn't come up with a better sequel... Start were the first one left off.
I dont expect much from TCM 3D but that wont stop me going to see it Smile
I liked the sequel with Dennis Hopper but yeah I think they could have done better

It has its fun moments... Kinda reminds me of a comic book. Not unlike House Of 1000 Corpses... The acid trippy kinda effect.
I prefer the gritty realism of the original.
Oh yeah the original was definately a classic and not completely lost on newer generations-my daughter has seen both 1973 and 2003 and prefers the 1973 version she borrows it from me all the time
I loved the second TCM because you can't really pick up from where the original left off because then it would pretty much be a remake. The second, while stupid and silly, was vastly entertaining and I think Tobe Hooper was self-aware that he could never top his first movie. He just went all out and had fun with his creation.
