I think no matter what
people will always have something to bitch about when it comes to Remakes...

I actually like how Jason runs in this one.
I mean don't get me wrong it was creepy
how in the original movies the victims would run
and he would walk, yet he still got to them and killed them.
But this is a REMAKE, it's not supposed to be the SAME...
If it was the same it wouldn't be a Remake...
It would just be a shot for shot deal... Kinda like The Omen Remake...

I also think this movie gives light on how in the originals
Jason would just walk then appear somewhere else.
Because in the Remake he has an underground lair, that goes pretty far in.
Basically people hated he had a lair... But I just explained why he has one.

Also people hate the fact that Jason kidnaps a girl...
Well lets go back and look why he did shall we?
For one! The girl looked a lot like his mother,
so since Jason does have feelings for his mother...
He kidnaps her and keeps her.
People hated that right?
But what about in Friday The 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter
When Corey Feldman shaves his head and talks to Jason...
Jason stopped killing Trish because Corey had shaved his head
and doing so reminded Jason of his past.
Basically he had feelings in Part 4... am I right?
But yet people still bitch about him having feelings in the Remake...

Also I remember people were talking trash on another forum saying -

So if your going to bitch about him kidnapping,

I mean I would understand if there was a MORE Valid reason...
But just look at the originals as well...
Jason Goes to Hell, F13th Part 7, or Jason X....

I'm not trying to be mean here lol... so don't get me wrong.
I just don't hate on Remakes, because it's the IN thing to do.

But I don't hate on remakes because it's the in thing to do - I hate on them because most of them suck donkey dink. We can talk about how much I hate "americanized" remakes of asian classics too!:grouphug:

I dunno... Have you watched it with an open mind or?
Because Remakes aren't all that bad.
How would the world be with no Remakes...
I mean 100 years from now,
they aint even going to know of Jason if it wouldn't be for the Remake.
I think Remakes can serve a GOOD purpose...
They help bring the Classics into the spotlight.

Sure I keep an open mind- I would be a pretty shitty horror fan if I didn't. In fact, I actually BOUGHT this DVD because I was prepared to LOVE it - I heard it was one of the better remakes, and the spotlight was to be on Jason. And I have enjoyed other remakes - I really enjoyed Zombie's Halloween (and MANY people hate that one). I thought My Bloody Valentine was fun (even if I can't see 3D stuff). I thought the remake of "Night of the Living Dead" & how they portrayed Barbra was superior to the original. I thought the Ring was one of the best asian remakes. I just didn't like this one. At all. I'm not pissing on the fact you like this movie. I just didn't like it. That doesn't make me right. I'm like a politician - rarely correct, but still opinionated.

You're right, remakes CAN serve a purpose. I can't wait to see what they do with The Wolfman. Perhaps I'm just confused on why movies that are relatively "new" classics need to be remade. None of these are that old - they were released in our time and we watched them when they were new. I think the world would be ok without remakes. Really, if people are going to remember who Jason is a hundred years from now, it's not going to be because of a remake a movie that, relatively speaking, isn't that old. If a remake's sole purpose is to bring a classic into the spotlight, you're better off going and watching the one that became the classic in the first place.

I would prefer some original ideas that create new classics, rather than trying to rehash someone elses. But to each his own.

You know, I was working towards a reply for this, but honestly, I need to get some freakin' sleep. I'll write up a more informative post later, but I think that both of you are bringing up some valid points.

I just sometimes get mad when It comes to the MAN Jason lol

i get what you mean. cuz all the original movies that come out in our generation( hostel, saw etc...) will be remade in years to come and wel be watching thoses when were older
