Royce Gracie is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time in my opinion. It's a shame he's way past his prime. Imagine the destruction he could cause in this day and age. You may as well face it, the UFC is no where near as hardcore as it used to be.

Yeah, but he did his damage back in the day as well. Shame he didn't get to see the figures that people like Chuck Liddell make. He deserves it definately. I remember watching some of his matches, and his opponent would tap so quick I didn't even know what the fuck happened.

Oh, definitely. He was the king of the UFC there for quite some time. He did his damage to some hardcore opponents, if he was in his prime, he would blow through the UFC competitors that are out there today. The new UFC generation is spoiled.

Yeah but then Matt Hughes beat him

That was sad, but Royce is a lot older and hasn't been in his prime for a very long time.

Yeah, and you know Dana didn't put Royce in that fight with the intentions of him winning. The same thing with Wanderlei Silva and Chuck Liddell. Dana White decided he'd let them fight when Silva was hurt so there was no way his butt buddy Chuck would lose (even though he almost did).

Silva is a force. The UFC is all about the money now-a-days. It's a shame Pride got bought out. That was hardcore compared to UFC. Silva beat Rampage Jackson like three times in pride. He went undefeated against him. Now Rampage is the champ in UFC.

Yeah, but I hear there is a big difference going from ring to cage and vice versa.

Yeah. Going from some hardcore fighting (Pride) to an extremely watered down fighting league (UFC) would be difficult I would imagine.

Like they always say, Pride champions are world champions because they'll fight anyone. UFC is like a golf club, so they are just CLUB champions because they won't fight anyone outside of the UFC.

Exactly right. I doubt the fighters in UFC could last one round in Pride. Pride's rounds are like 10 minutes, right?

Hell, I'm not exactly sure. But UFC probaly wouldn't last against lesser known competitors in Elite XC, WEC, or hell, even WCL, and it's just kickboxing :p
I would love to see it happen, though.

UFC are some greedy fuckers though. There'd have to be alot of money involved.
Yeah, no doubt. We'll never see the UFC fighters fight real fighters.
Yeah, like me and you

Exactly. Now Dana White is trying to set up the Silva VS Rampage feud again. Didn't see see Silva kick his ass like 3 times in Pride already?

I agree,
Royce Gracie is pretty awesome.

A little late on this response, but yeah. Rampage finally beat Silva, so it's now 2-1 (Silva up). And everyone is talking shit "Oh Rampage knocked him out." Well yeah? It took him 3 tries. I'm sure that Randy Couture could beat Brock Lesnar if he had 3 tries. Same case with most fighters. Forrest Griffin could probably beat Rampage if he had 3 tries, etc.

I said that like 5 months ago. Haha.
