Review:

When I first heard of this film, I knew that I would be watching it in theaters once it was released. Sure enough, I got three of my buddies and we all went to see the movie. After snagging some popcorn and soda's we proceeded to stand in line, waiting to be allowed in. Thankfully, we were all the first in line. To my surprise, a very big line formed behind us. We didn't have to wait very long before we were allowed in. We sit down in our chairs and tore open the pack of glasses. I was surprised to see that the glasses were not in the typical red and blue colors. Instead, they were clear. Also, they were actually built like sunglasses. They weren't all cheap and made of paper like I was expecting.

After all of us opening up our glasses we put them right on, killing time until the movie started. Why we wore the glasses through the previews, I do not know -- but hey, I'm sure the extra time couldn't hurt. It gave our eyes more time to adjust. Before I knew it, the movie was just about to begin. Once the text showed up on the silver screen instructing the audience to put on the supplied 3-D glasses I was becoming excited. After that, my adventure into the wonderful world of 3D horror began.

Unfortunately, the 3D doesn't work as well on DVD as it did in theaters. No matter how big of a screen you watch it on. Also, I was bummed once I opened the DVD and saw those typical glasses. It wasn't those nice clear ones that worked so well in theaters. Instead, it was the ones that I have such bad memories about. Just like the ones that were included with the Friday The 13th Part 3 in 3D DVD. Yeah, those didn't work so well for that movie. However, they worked alright. Plus, I'm pretty sure those clear glasses are for a different type of 3D and will only work in theaters.

Either way, the 3D does work to an extent. You're not going to have stuff seemingly blasting out of the screen and whizzing by you, like it was in theaters, but it's still pretty cool. Also, the film was shot really well for 3D. If you don't enjoy the 3D DVD experience you can just flip the disc over in your DVD player and watch the 2D version of the movie.

The film is somewhat like your typical slasher movie. People are dying and you're trying to go through a list of suspects in your mind trying to figure out just who the killer could be. Of course, you're going to have to wait until the end of the movie before the mystery is revealed. Honestly, I was surprised at some of the stuff I saw in this movie. There were some really good gorey scenes that looked magnificent in 3D. There was also some full-frontal nudity which lasts for quite some time. I certainly didn't see that one coming. I mean, who can argue with some 3D nakedness?

For your typical slasher, I think this movie delivers. You get some really good gore, nudity, alcohol and a plot that keeps you guessing. Not to mention, you get to see all of that in 3D! I enjoyed the actual movie and the 3D experience was simply amazing. I mean, don't expect a ton of originality -- but if you want see a good movie and have a great experience I definitely suggest seeing My Bloody Valentine 3D.

I rate My Bloody Valentine 3D a 7 out of 10.

I too thought this was a pretty entertaining flick. The gore was good, the cinematography was really good and the camera work stood out to me as being the best thing about the movie. The acting was not that great at points, but I think that takes the back burner. As far as the 3D goes, I would not know, because frankly I didnt give a shit about the 3D aspect of it...lol.

It looks pretty sweet in 3d. Though.

I forgot to mention the one part of the movie I thought was absolutely silly. Its a small spoiler I guess so dont read down if you havent seen the movie yet.









At the beginning when the killer throws the pick-axe and it sticks in the windshield, I thought that was incredibly lame. There is no way that a pick-axe that is traveling that fast can be stopped by a wind shield of an old Ford Bronco. I just found that pretty silly.

I was surprised with most of the gore in the film. I mean, there were some really interesting deaths. The cinematography/camera work was really up there. That work was simply not typical. It stood out in a really good way.

It looked pretty cool in 3D. That's most likely what the whole shot was intended for or they probably would have done something else with it.

I'm torn on seeing this movie, especially considering how hyped it's been for gore and action, and the fact it looks like the plot has been simplified from the original (No one knew Harry was dead, they had a better reason for thinking he had come back).

I love that so many people are liking it, and someone actually pointing out "good cinematography" is an excellent sign, especially since it actually looks like is uses NATURAL COLORS to boot (Unlike most "tinted" modern horror)! The features are quite tempting, I do love a well-packed Valentine's box... I may look for this one once it gets cheap.

I watched all of the special features last night. I forgot to write a lot about them in my review, though. I think later today I will edit my review and talk some about the special features. There was a ton of deleted/extended scenes.

Yea it does use nature colors.
Nothing to dark and gritty...
It seems as if your in the film,
unlike most gritty films that are so dark you can't see shit.

Or films that are just blue-looking. Like the Underworld movies (which I have yet to see).

You know I had kind of dismissed this one too. I really like the original, so I was ready to ignore this. I think I will have to add it to my queue now.

It's worth checking out. Especially if you plan on watching it in 3D.

Underworld movies did look pretty blue. weird....

Then again it seems as if Van Helsing, could be a part of The Underworld story.

I would've probably gave it a 5 or 6 if it's lucky. It just didn't do much for me. But regardless, it's definately better than the Prom Night remake, but not by much. I have to admit though, it was good seeing Tom Atkins again.

Well I finally watched 2 of the 3? Underworlds! and even though they are blue lol... They were pretty good! Oh and Kate Beckinsale! is fuckin HOT! enough said! lol
