Some people just shouldnt mess with other peoples work....especially a classic like Halloween. I didnt like either remake.

Same. I'm a purist and most of the time, I've very, very cynical about remakes.
99% of all remakes really Bites the Big One
I disagree with that statement that 99% of remakes suck-however I do feel many times the original stories are changed in ways that don't benefit the film-but I absolutely hated Rob Zombie's Halloween-when the movie ended I wanted to slt my throat it was so depresssing -

The reason why i believe that 99% of remakes such is because if we tally how many remakes have been made, including all other genres and not just horror, the bad outweigh the good by tenfold. Maybe 99% is a bit harsh but the percentage would be in the 90's.

If you set down and watch Halloween 1 & 2 there is hardly any blood and guts. But they sure scared the hell out of you when you sat in that theatre and watched them. These RZ abortions the first one has more blood and guts than the two originals combined they leave nothing for the imagination. Today they have to show everything, the makers feel ether you can't or your to lazy to use your imagination.
It's funny that you mentioned the gore Oldman because I noticed the very same thing. There isn't any blood in the original Halloween but the mood, the soundtrack and a truly unstoppable menace add to the film's suspense. Also, I recently saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original) again and noticed that there is hardly any blood in that movie as well. I'm sure it's a common misconception that the original TCM is a bloodbath.
in fact if you watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1973) it's so bloodless you almost think it's edited for television

Bloodbath is a term used for a lot of murders there were a lot of murders in TCM just not shown. With today's culture most youngsters would not give these classics a second look if they were made today.

not necessarily-TCM is one of my daughter's favorites but probably most kids wouldnt like it that's why the remake has all kinds of blood-I also like the remake myself because I like R. Lee Ermey
You just proved my point the remakes are full of blood because the majority of today's youth. can't appreciate these classics.

I used the words Most and Majority that doesn't include everyone. I know there are a few out their , but not many.

In an interview regarding the TCM remake, Gunnar Hansen was asked by the remake's producers to reprise his role as Leatherface. However, they said to him that the remake wasn't going to be nearly as bloody and gory as the original. Gunnar looked at him and said, "Bloody? Gory? Did you even watch the original." I applauded.
Today's youth needs blood and boobs because it's the only way to keep their attention. I was lucky because I had a profound appreciation for the classics and based my judgments on atmosphere, tone, sound track and performance. There doesn't need to be blood and gore for it to be a good movie, though ironically my two favorite horror movies are both bloody and remakes.
I know - did you happen to watch the "remake" of Piranha? Now I know they were trying to achieve the same Roger Corman feel of the original but give me a small break here-they showed people who should have been dead talking and stuff. Plus they were brainless and driving music would have driven me up the wall-guess Im getting old-I cant wait though to see another TCM
They tried to make a movie so bad that it was good with the remake of Piranha but instead what they ended up with was a film that was just stupid and not entertaining. A movie that's campy but gory fun is the remake of MBV, which took what was a teen drama/horror and turned it into a campy thrill ride. I can't really isolate what my problem was with Piranha but maybe it was too stupid for my taste.
One thing Ive noticed is the difference in the sophistication of the kids-take "The Hills Have Eyes 1977-Bobby and Brenda seem very childish and immature whereas Bobby and Brenda in the 2006 version are more adult-like(I say "adult-like" because the portion of the brain regarding long term consequences of actions does not fully form until the early 20's) it's really startling-
