Still a stranger to her own body, a high school student discovers she has a physical advantage when she becomes the object of male violence.
I just recently watched this film about 2 days ago, AGAINST recommendations. The only person I had talked to who had seen the film, was entirely against it. But being the rebel I am, I decided to watch it. Was I let down? Well, we'll get to that. The film starts off with a small-town, hard working American type feeling. It reminded me of the town in Edward Scissorhands, but not quite as nice. When we first meet our title character Dawn, Stephen King's Carrie immediately came to mind. An innocent teenage female, who does no wrong. She's giving a speech of some sort, regarding abstinence. No, not the alcoholic beverage ABSENCE, but the practice of no sex - no problems. And after biting her older brother's finger (with what?) at a young age, I don't blame her for not wanting to have sexual intercourse with anyone (hint).
Dawn quickly falls in love with a new student, Tobey. It seems like a match made in Heaven at first. Neither of them are all about the sex, they both have core vaules, etc. Well, Dawn does, but we'll later find out Tobey was a lying sack of shit. Tobey will eventually end up trying to make a move on Dawn, per her agreement, but when she changes her mind, he decides not to stop. That my friends, is when we find out that Dawn is NOT the sweet girl we thought she was, but an almost ordinary girl walking around with razor sharp teeth embedded in her vagina. Yes, you heard me correctly. Razor sharp teeth.....in her vagina.
You can pretty much guess how the rest of the film goes. It's alot like I Spit on Your Grave, minus the rednecks, knives, and good director. I can see why people like this film, and I can see why people hated it. I'm somewhere in the middle of the crowd. The loss of penis is not overplayed, but it's not something we haven't seen before. On the flipside, to my knowledge, I can't remember a movie where there was a toothed vagina. The main problem I had with the film, it had too many substories. Girl falls in love, kills him, falls in love again, kills him, fucks her brother, etc.
I would recommend at least watching the film (I mean really, a toothed vagina) but as far as calling it a good film, I'm afraid I cannot do so. If you have Netflix, or can find it on Amazon for dirt cheap, pick it up. If not, then you can just say you saw the film, because I pretty much wrapped up the film in words in this review. I'm gonna generously give this film a 5/10.
