Agreed. The mental case would be living in a ward, sucking up our tax dollars to pay for his meals, medical and treatment when in the end… it won't do anything. Lethally inject his ass. Some guy walked into a 24-hour Jewel once with a shotgun and shot and killed 15 people, 1 was a mother of two, one was a pregnant woman and one was a 80-year-old woman. He hunted them down like animals in the store and shot them all. They tried him and he was guilty but he plead insanity and is now in a looney bin. What the fuck?!?!?

Why should somebody get to live in a prison, with full health, three squares and shelter while his victims are taking a dirt nap? Hell no! Fry the bastard. If he takes a life, then we take his life. Simple.

the criminals seem to have more rights than victims

American needs to have a zero-tolerance for murderers. Technically, if somebody comes in and tries to kill your family and he's running down the stairs and you shoot him in the leg, he can sue and fine you for causing him to be handicapped.

Troy Davis anyone?????

'The former director of the Georgia Department of Corrections, and five other retired officers, sent a letter to Georgia corrections officials and the state's Governor urging them to reconsider the fate of 42-year-old Troy Davis'

Should he have been put to death? His execution puts up a major case against the death penalty

Let's be random. - FreddysFingers - 09-22-2011

That's a little different because as I read and followed the story, there were multiple quotes saying that the jury was not presented with "physical evidence," meaning they jumped the gun and possibly executed an innocent man. That's the fault of the jury, prosecutors and investigators and not the death penalty itself. If a man kills people and fully admits to it, would you want him to live or die?

I just love how these different groups say that the death penalty is cruel and that government does not have the right to take a life. what about the victims where are their rights and how does the killer have the right to take a life but does not have to forfeit his. I believe an eye for an eye. You take away someones right to life, You lose yours plain and simple.

Depends on the circumstances surrounding the case. If somebody kills or rapes any of my loved ones they wouldn't have to wait for a trial or jury so in one sense I do believe in the death penalty.
But life is rarely so black and white. Most case's you have some element of doubt no matter how small...

Yes! An eye for an eyes. That's why I love these vigilante movies that challenge this type of thing. Law Abiding Citizen, Eye for an Eye and Death Sentence. If anything, this Troy Davis case proves that our justice system if flawed, which it is. If somebody waltzed into my house and shot my wife and kid I'll be opting for the electric chair.

Here is the Problem If it's your family he deserves to be put to death. If it's some strangers family there could be some doubt. if your against the death penalty it shouldn't matter who he kills.

Very true. I read some of the comments on that Yahoo! article stating that America is a nation of savages whereas European countries don't have the death penalty. I don't think we're savages, I think we are showing our intolerance towards killers. We don't execute people who committed a robbery. We execute people who wrongfully took the life of another human.

One of my friend's friend got into a fight at a bar. The owner kicked out the two people at the same time and one of the assailants began to beat his head in, with his foot, into the ground and ended up killing him by snapping his neck. Why did he beat this kid up in the first place? Because he was gay. That's right, because he was gay. The other guy is in the hospital under critical condition. This assaulter apparently is sentenced to life in prison for 3rd degree murder.

What's wrong with this picture?

Oldman...
If anybody wakes during the night and somebody is raping or killing their loved ones they should do anything they can up to and including killing the intruders. I am 100% for that. There is no doubt the intruders deserve it.

But......

If the case is not 100% and there is a element of doubt.... Should the person still be put to death?

Let's be random. - Oldman - 09-22-2011

According to what you posted Freddy he should get the death penalty. and I would list it as a hate crime also.

Let's be random. - FreddysFingers - 09-22-2011

Fang, I believe that if the person was not 100% guilty and the people involved with the case (not the attorneys) believe that there isn't enough evidence to support the claim… no he shouldn't be killed. He should be in prison until proven guilty. If he is guilty without a doubt with evidence supporting his claim, I believe that he should get the gas.

There is the trial and all the appeals that are put forth. There will always be doubt, you will never convince 100% of the people. I agree with your example I would do the same, but you know somebody would but forward the Idea that you could have done something other than kill him.

What's cruel is someone raping torturing and/or killing your loved one and then being told that said criminal is "mentally disturbed" and instead of being executed is sent to a hospital -to me that's cruel and unusual- states that will fight extradition to states where they have the death penalty and such that's cruel -and when they put someone to death it's a much more peaceful death than what the victims get

I agree 100%

Very true. A mentally ill person who is capable of killing somebody for no reason is a liability. Why should I have to pay for this criminal's food, shelter and medical bills when if he or she murdered somebody? Why does he get to keep his life but those who he or she murdered/raped/tortured don't?

Death penalty is ok if they are 100% they have the right person. How many have been exicuted only to be found not guilty at a later date?..1 mystake is 1 tomany.

I do agree that they need to be 100% sure but if they are then they need to execute them-and NOT let them sit on Death Row for years sucking the taxpayers dry-if you are sentanced to death on Monday then the execution should be carried no later than Wednesday-just saying
