Batman:Arkham Asylum Review - LokiZee - 09-22-2009 I was wondering whether or not I should post this in the "Other" category, or in the Horror Video category, and I look back over my time playing BMAA, and horror fits the bill. It is a very dark and brooding game with a lot of horror moments mostly due to your interactions with The Scarecrow. You don't get a cue when you are going on one of his Fear Gas induced trips, and many time I wondered what was going wrong. Sometimes horribly wrong. For example, Batman investigates a morgue and everything seems calm enough, and he find absolutely nothing out of place there. He leave through the door he came in through, and what do ya know? Back in the same morgue, though this time, three bodies are in body bags on the table. He walks up to each in turn. The first is his father, asking "Why? Why did you let this happen?", then to his mother's body and last to Commissioner Gordon. Then the place goes nuts! The body cabinets start flapping open and close and the back half of the room seems to have been sucked into a dark abyss in hell. Then to deal with a giant version of the Scarecrow, which you must hide from to survive. In another part, the game actually got to me, the player. One of my biggest fears (Hehe, maybe not that big, but it would suck) is my XBox going bad on me, especially since I just got my 3rd one, and the whole red ring of death thing. In one part, I was walking down a hall, and the game froze on me, and the graphics went out of whack. I was so pissed! Then the damn GAME STARTED ALL THE WAY OVER!!!!!!! I was treated to the opening scene again, the exact SAME ONE! The camera zooms into the Bat Mobile, though this is when I knew that the scarecrow was at it again. Joker was driving this time, taking Batman to Arkham Asylum to be processed. The thugs and Harley Quinn are the processors, and then the Joker just SHOOTS BATMAN IN THE HEAD! And absolutely nothing I, the player, can do about it! I get a reload screen, telling me that to dodge Jokers bullet, use the middle stick on the controller. THERE IS NO MIDDLE STICK! I hit retry and a grave stone of Bruce Wayne is in the foreground, Batman busts up through the ground and see a whole load of other batmans that are completely insane. ONE IS EVEN EATING A RATS GUTS! PRETTY! Then, another Scarecrow level. These are just a couple of examples why this game is listed under Horror! As a game it kicked ass! You don't have to be a fan of Batman to enjoy this one folks! Perfect controls, GREAT graphics, and probably one of the most enjoyable combat systems I have ever had to pleasure to play. Whether you like comic games (Which you probably don't cause most of 'em suck) isn't a factor for this one. It is just a GREAT game. Probably one of the finest I have played........ever. Yeah, I said ever. I give it a 10 outta 10.:bowow: This game boggled my brain. And that's the only way to get a zombie! :zombie: Batman:Arkham Asylum Review - Friday The 13th - 09-22-2009 Damn! Loki! That game does sound mind boggling! Batman:Arkham Asylum Review - dmihatmttl - 11-21-2009 Awesome game. Probably my favorite of all time. Granted, I'm probably not the best person to make such a judgment, as I rarely play video games and I'm the biggest Batman nerd on the planet. ![]() J.N.
