No, not Keith David, star of The Thing; David Keith, director of The Curse (and two others, along with a fairly long acting career)
.Being true to his roots, David was taking his daughter to act in our latest opera in Knoxville (he himself will act in another of our operas later in the year), giving all of us roaming the halls a chance to meet him. I didn't have the courage myself, so I thank my girlfriend for introducing me to the first fairly famous guy I've met yesterday! We didn't really get much time to chat it up, but he seemed like a pretty down to Earth guy, never imposing at all, didn't talk down to me like most people more than a year or two older than me do
In addition to that, The Curse despite being widely un-liked (flawed but underrated if you ask me) wasn't anything of a touchy subject for him; he talked about it like he would anything else. I didn't get around to asking my burning question (who was the guy who screwed the mother anyhow? Creepy uncle? Family "friend"?), though I did learn some of the guys involved in the production apparently went over his head with the miniature work, shooting lower-quality stuff without his approval XP.
Overall, thanks again to David for being such a cool guy, and thanks again to Diane for being braver than I could have been X) .
