The Most Infamous Shock Movies - TerrorScribe - 06-07-2010 A colleague of mine sent me a tweet yesterday that got me thinking. He wanted a list of films from me of infamous "shock" horror movies. I asked him if he wanted actually shocking or advertised as shocking. He said he wanted either. So, here was what I came up with on the fly: Nosferatu (1922) Dracula (1931) The Tingler (1959) The Exorcist (1973) Cannibal Holocaust (1980) What would you consider a "shocking" movie? What makes it so? The Most Infamous Shock Movies - Trioxin149 - 06-08-2010 Salo: 120 Days of Sodom (they eat shit) Men Behind The Sun (watch and you'll see) The Guinea Pig Series (good ol' fashioned brutality) Toy Story (Buzz almost died) The Most Infamous Shock Movies - gore - 06-08-2010 Cannibal Holocaust Cannibal Ferox AKA Make them die Slowly Unhinged (Was part of the "Video Nasties" back in the day) - DPP list - The DPP list of 'video nasties' was first made public in June 1983. The list was modified monthly as prosecutions failed or were dropped. In total, 72 separate films appeared on the list at one time or another. Thirty-nine films were successfully prosecuted under the Obscene Publications Act but some of these films have been subsequently cut and then approved for release by the BBFC. The remaining 35 were either not prosecuted or had unsuccessful prosecutions. A number of films spent a short time on this list because their prosecutions failed shortly after publication or because it was decided that prosecution was not worth pursuing. Ultimately, the list became obsolete when the Video Recordings Act came into force, and since 2001, several of the films have been released uncut. In the majority of cases below where cuts were made, they were scenes of real-life animal cruelty and/or excessive violence to women, both of which are still regarded with some degree of severity by the BBFC. Absurd (original/alternate titles: Rosso Sangue, Anthropophagus 2 â released with 2m 32s cut in 1983, though it was withdrawn post VRA, and has never been re-submitted for classification)(Does have a release in the United States uncut under the title Horrible) The Anthropophagous Beast (original title: Antropophagus â released with approximately 3m of pre-cuts as "The Grim Reaper" in 2002) Axe! Last House on Dead End Street also known as 'The Fun House' was confused with Tobe Hoopers film and avoided being placed on the list. Breakdown of the list Of these films: 38 have been released uncut 24 have been released cut Unless noted otherwise, all films that have been released have been rated 18. Also note that a lot of these movies caused additional controversy with the cover art of the original big box releases seen in the video shops of the early 1980s. 1 has been released with additional footage 10 are effectively banned in the UK to this day because they have not been resubmitted for classification by any distributors. 1 has since been rejected for classification ============================================== I actually own most of those. Uncut. And yes, it was VERY hard to find some of them that weren't totally cut even here in the US. In the States, a lot of movies that are violent, or have "Shock Value" will be cut to shit. It seems weird that here in the US there are movies that are "banned" but if you think about it, WHAT Theater can YOU think of, that will play X-Rated movies? Can you even think of one? I don't know of any Theater here that will even play ONE X-Rated movie. And most of the Collections people get are either "Rated - R" or "Not Rated" but that doesn't mean they aren't cut. You see, being a distributer of movies which carry things rated X means you don't get very much in terms of funding, or advertising, because it's considered Adult Content. People also seem to think being rated X means it's porn. It's not. Porn is XXX, and the rest are like this: G PG PG-13 R NC-17 X XXX And so on. NC-17 can be played in a Theater, but rarely is, and X, well, most refuse to. When I got my copy of Anthropophagus, I was surprised it was the one that was banned here in the US. I have THAT copy. It's not easy either. Same with Unhinged. Neither of those are usually found in the States because they're so hard to get without finding one cut to shit. You usually have to get them online. Cannibal Holocaust being re-released did help make it popular again, but a lot of the copies were cut to shit. That's why I'm Happy both versions I have aren't cut. One is just the extended and one is totally uncut. If I took some time, I could probably make a decent list of movies I'd consider Shock Movies, but I don't have the time to really. Also, something to add that I think should be on this list, is this movie: America; Birth of a Nation. I think that's the right title. It's almost 3 AM but I'm almost certain that's the one. It's one of those movies that was done a LONG time ago, and it's on a LOT of lists of "Shocking Movies". You'll probably be surprised too if you ever see it. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - FreddysFingers - 06-08-2010 Fucking A gore! Um... Day of the Woman. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - Daylight Yet Unseen - 06-08-2010 i loved Cannibal Man, i have the uncut version. i've seen the uncut versions of alot of these movies. also, 120 Days of Sodom is based on a book by Marquis De Sade. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - gore - 06-08-2010 Fucking A what? Lol. Day of the Woman / I spit on your grave, is a great movie. I LOVE that movie! It was really hard for me to watch the middle parts of the movie because I can't STAND Rape. I really can't. So when the middle of the movie was on, I had trouble watching all of it, but forced myself to. I wanted to know exactly what was going on, so I made sure to watch all of it even though it was hard to stomach that happening to any woman. When the last parts of the middle and towards the end of the movie started up.... I was CHEERING! I was GLAD I kept my Eyes Open for the whole thing, because when she seeks her revenge, and does what she does, I was fucking CHEERING her on! When she does what she does, I was so fucking Happy to see Rapist pricks getting EXACTLY what they fucking deserved! I was once asked what I think of the laws on certain things in this country, and what I think about the things the Law does to people who do certain things, and I didn't agree with a lot of it. When the question of Rape came up, I said they let Rapists off the hook WAY to easily. I said that if a man is not only convicted of Rape, but, they have video to prove without ANY doubt that he did in fact do it, then the sentence should be as follows: Strap that fucker down, dip his nuts in Honey, and force him to tea bag an Ant Hill of Fire Ants. Then, Castration. Then, dip him in Ketchup and send his ass off to some Cannibal Island. That's what I'd think was fair. Making sure he can never do it again. And make sure he suffers too. Rape is in some ways worse than a killer. When some guy kills another man, that man doesn't have to LIVE with what happened to him. When a Man rapes a woman, she has to live with that the rest of her life. My best friend is the same way. I've watched him choke a guy just for joking about rape. Anyway, Cannibal Man I found uncut on VHS. I was kind of weirded out by it. I expected a lot more from it. Not some guy who kills people and then uses his job at the Meat factory to get rid of the evidence. And then pukes when he finds out he ate some. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - Bojangles - 06-08-2010 Keep in mind that these movies may not be personally shocking to me, but a lot of people do consider them to be shocking. Salo: 120 Days of Sodom - There's a lot of controversy surrounding this one. One being that all the actors in the movies may have not been over the age of 18, despite them being completely nude and participating in sexual scenes. Cannibal Holocaust - The animals used in the movie were real. Of course, they killed them as well. Also, the director had to show up in court, along with the cast and crew of the film, proving that it wasn't real. He also had to show how they did some of the effects in the movie. Cannibal Ferox - They used real animals and killed real animals in the film. Aftermath - A mortician is by himself with a body of a woman whom was killed in a car crash. He mutilates her body, then begins to fuck her dead corpse. He even sets up a camera with a timer, so he can take pictures of him doing this to her. At the end, he takes her heart home and feed it to his dog. It's a short film, by the way. I think it's only 30 minutes or-so long. I'll post more as I think about them. He's taking fictitious violence so seriously that he's actually committing an act of violence in real life. And you have to remember, around the time that I Spit On Your Grave was released, alot of films depicted rape. But in 90% of them, the victim, came back to fuck up the rapist. That's what made them so enjoyable. You see a woman get raped, you feel bad, and then she comes back for revenge, and you cheer her on. Ryan Nicholson puts that in his films, and it pans out pretty damn well if ya ask me. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - gore - 06-09-2010 The guy said "Wouldn't it be funny to rape a Cheer Leader?" and being that I myself, and my Best friend, both have female friends who were raped, well, he grabbed him by the throat and pushed him up against the wall. I was to busy laughing to really step in, and the owner didn't care because he knew what happened, and didn't like that guy anyway, and basically what stopped him was a Mother there with her Child saying "Could you not do that anymore?". She knew what happened, so she waited a few minutes before asking him to stop. The guy left pretty quick. As far as I am concerned, I think he had it coming. It's not like this guy was "Just kidding".... His best friend, who I also knew, had shown up to the same Mall once with Rohypnol. Roofies... To "ensure" he never used them on any girls, we swallowed them all. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - Trioxin149 - 06-09-2010 I've also knew girls who CLAIMED that they were raped, when the situation was merely "Well I didn't really want to but he made me." I don't call that rape and it pisses me off when chicks do that. Just like these so called Jesus Freaks who post statuses on their Facebook of scriptures from The Bible, and then go out and fuck everyone and their brother. Point being, I just don't think a joke is anything to get violent over. Good thing it wasn't me getting choked Oh well. Some people are different I suppose. Peachy.

The one I knew had 12 hits of LSD dropped in her drink and something else, then they did it to her. You can NOT make decisions on Acid. I won't even touch that stuff. My best friend's friend, was flat out pushed down, and violently.... Well you know. I don't even want to think about it. But it wasn't a "not sure if I wanted it" situation, it was like a person in a mask shoving you down, and holding you there while it happened. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - TerrorScribe - 06-10-2010 Great list, Gore. LOVE the "video nasties" list. I can't believe I forgot "I Spit on Your Grave/Day of the Woman". I remember seeing that when I was in the Marines. We cheered when she was fucking those guys up too. I'm kind of excited about the remake as well. Got to see some clips from it at Tx Frightmare Weekend. It was fucked up and brutal. I'll have my fingers crossed on this one. By the way, I Spit on Your Grave is definitely better than Last House on The Left, in my opinion. The Most Infamous Shock Movies - mrblue - 06-10-2010 There was a screening for the remake today I could of went to but called to late and couldn't get any seats-_- The Most Infamous Shock Movies - jimiL - 06-10-2010 There's a little known indie movie Us Sinners, that is filled with shocking moments. The ending goes way beyond shocking. It makes the Guinea Pig series look like the Brady Bunch. I was able to track it down here: http://www.ussinners.com/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1339190/ The trailer is definitely NSFW - which unfortunately is where I was watching it so I had to click away a lot. It looks interesting, I guess. Came out in 2007. No name stars. First effort for writer/director George Snow. Might have to Netflix it.
