Lionsgate, producers and star Tobin Bell will announce on Friday at the San Diego Comic-Con that Saw 3D, opening October 29, will be the final installment of the franchise."It's time to stop," producer Oren Koules told the USA Today, "We have told the story we wanted to tell, and this is going to be a great farewell."The Kevin Greutert-directed film, also starring Cary Elwes, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell and Sean Patrick Flanery, will feature 11 booby traps, double the average for previous films. In Saw 3D, a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy and a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror. The film was re-edited and submitted six times to the MPAA to bring it from an NC-17 to an R rating. "I'm surprised we got it," said producer Mark Burg. "It's more violent than any of them. But it's in 3-D, it answers all the questions, it comes full circle. We have the goods on this one."

Maybe they'll pull a F13th move and make 8 if 7 makes a lot of money.

"It's time to stop." BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I hope I am not the only one who thinks this is funny as hell.

Well hell, I think it'd be a good time to stop; the storyline has been stretched to a point where it's not ridiculous, but it could get there with the revelation of a new apprentice or some such jazz.

I just hope this last one is a worthy way to cap off the series and not some fan service riddled mess, and by fanservice I don't mean legitimate answering of questions, I mean things happening because it's "what we have come to expect" or "what would be 'right'" for the characters.

I can't believe the Saw franchise has been bullied into changing there release date by Paranormal Activity 2. Its the "last" movie and its in 3D they shouldn't be worrying about P.A 2 making more money.

Jet Li said that Fearless was his last movie. Then came War, The Forbidden Kingdom, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and now The Expendable.

Depressing News for Saw fans. - Friday The 13th - 07-22-2010

I actually think its not time to stop... I mean I admit it has been stretched...
But hey! F13 was bad ass even when it was stretched! & so is SAW!
I mean would you rather see SAW keep going or just some crummy Remakes?

They can't end the Saw series yet because Jigsaw hasn't taken his games to space yet!

What's with the hate on the Saw movies? At least its kept its story unlike other movie franchises.

Well the difference is that the F13 series was less elaborate and started a somewhat new story each time whereas the saw series. We don't have to wonder how Jason accomplished all he did in such a short time since he doesn't kidnap people to put in traps and the police aren't (usually) after him because he usually doesn't "go on the run". With Saw the story never reached a point where the police actively stopped chasing "Jigsaw" or a point where John, Amanda, or Hoffman could have stopped to make a whole bunch of new traps in advance

And yeah I'd rather Saw than remakes, but just because Saw ends doesn't mean remakes will have to be next! I'm up to see some new ideas personally.

... I actually love Jason X ....
Not being mean... but what does this have to do with SAW?...

Pinhead and Leprchaun also went.

Saw's plot over time started to become more and more complex and left plot holes throughout the series and then the next film had to go back and fix those plot holes but somehow manage to push the story alone. The original idea was simple but elaborate. After the fourth one I couldn't care less but personally, an unnecessary sequel is just as bad as a remake. Jaws 2 was horrible because it was unnecessary, Wall Street 2 is unnecessary. That's like making a sequel to American Beauty or Forrest Gump. But... Mr. Blue has a point: Saw has not yet reached space so the series won't end. Space seems to be the 'jump the shark' moment with a lot of horror until we get into crossovers.

Saw is bad ass. It's a fact and I hate to see it end. I could always look forward to the next SAW film, but now I won't have anything to look forward to. Paranormal Activity 2? No thanks. ANYTHING by Rob Zombie? No thanks. Scream 4? I'll see it, but don't really care if it happens or not. Ghostbusters 3 was sounding like it would be bad ass, but they're apparently getting the guys who wrote Year One. Year---fucking---One. :reddisgust:

Depressing News for Saw fans. - mrblue - 07-23-2010

The Saw sequals weren't unnecessary becuz they told the legacy of Jigsaw jus like how the Star wars films told the story about the life and death of Anikan Skywalker. And besides I rather have the saw sequals that actually have some originallity each time then a bunch of crappy movies like Twilight, remakes, or cheap sequals.

Yes, but with sequels retcon can occur and better sequels made by people who know the series better can take their places... or you can just disregard the lot of 'em.

Remakes... they kill franchises dead.

Depressing News for Saw fans. - FreddysFingers - 07-23-2010

They may have told the legacy of Jigsaw but they went farther than they needed to. He died in the third or fourth one, they should have stopped there. Plus, I think a huge reason why people go to see those movies is just to see people get tortured and butchered. I'm sure most people don't even care about the actual plot.
