Funhouse 3D - mrblue - 08-18-2010 Ughh just another 3D remake.. While doing press for THE LAST EXORCISM today, Eli Roth (very) briefly spoke of the FUNHOUSE remake he's long been developing mentioning that (unsurprisingly, like most upcoming films) it's being planned for 3D. Read on for what he had to say.. In discussing his production projects and finding the right way to tell a story, Roth told Fango, "The only thing I'm interested in is telling stories that i would love to see in the cinema. This worked great for this movie but I wouldn't seek movies out by this format. I just look at story and script and the other films that I'm producing; it's a varied slate. There's 3D and that works great for FUNHOUSE remake in 3D, and other stuff is narrative, that's THE MAN WITH THE IRON FIST." Funhouse 3D - FreddysFingers - 08-19-2010 Well, I don't know why they would want to remake this movie. It's not like they can make it any better since the original wasn't that good to start with. Oh brother. Funhouse 3D - mrblue - 08-19-2010 Yea well no horror movie from the 80s can't go by without getting remade. Funhouse 3D - FreddysFingers - 08-19-2010 If people have such a remake hard on, remake some of the old 50s sci-fi movies that are practically begging for a 'reboot.' I'm sure some director can take Robot Monster and turn it into a serious horror or a campy creature feature. Funhouse 3D - mrblue - 08-19-2010 Maybe its too old for them to remake haha. When an original wasn't good, but had potential, it's the PERFECT time to remake it! Why remake Robot Monster but not Funhouse? I caught glimpses of Funhouse as a kid and was really scared by it. When I sought it out later I was disappointed, but still enjoyed the parts that unnerved me when I was little. If the new one uses them (Some of the camerawork, the monster's face, "alive, alive, alive!") but adds more characters along with better pacing, backstory and better use of setting, a Funhouse redo could be great. Of course, I am skeptical as I should be, but I'm just saying how good a remake COULD be in this case. Funhouse 3D - Fridaythe13thfanatic - 08-19-2010 This horror film actually scared me when i was a kid but not as scary as friday the 13th. Funhouse 3D - mrblue - 08-19-2010 I just saw it for the first the other day and I wasn't to impressed. Funhouse 3D - FreddysFingers - 08-20-2010 Mr. Briggs Inc. Wrote:Sorry, but what the fuck FF? When an original wasn't good, but had potential, it's the PERFECT time to remake it! Why remake Robot Monster but not Funhouse? Since I am cynical about remakes because a majority of them suck, I can only assume (I know, shame on me) that this remake would suck. Funhouse was hyped up for me and when I saw it I didn't like it. Robot Monster was made very campy but if given the right direction, it could be a serious sci-fi horror in the same sense of Alien. Funhouse was trying to be serious but failed. Funhouse 3D - Dr. Briggs - 08-20-2010 Well yeah, I generally theorize most remakes will suck as well, but when an original isn't that good I keep the hope alive that a remake will at least bring a few improvements to the table (why I enjoyed the Prom Night remake); to me, the argument that a Funhouse remake would somehow be unable of being better because the original didn't use it's elements to their full potential to effectively fit a tone is flawed. If Robot Monster can take its original execution and turn a 180 into a serious horror/scifi flick, I'd imagine that Funhouse could take it's original tone, work the elements within into something more effective, and make it into a good film just the same. Funhouse 3D - FreddysFingers - 08-20-2010 I guess it seems flawed because I am having trouble explaining it. |
