The Veil (2005) - Dr. Briggs - 06-18-2011

I began to watch this one the other day; it's a very low-budget horror film, but one of the few I know of to be 2 and a half hours... basically the kind of film I want to make!

Unfortunately, so far "Veil" shows a LOT of technical inferiorities: the same actors play multiple characters and barely even attempt to disguise themselves, the direction/editing is choppy, the acting by the zombies is poor and the storyline seems a little confusing/aimless. I haven't finished it yet, but I have the feeling I'm gonna be disappointed.

I have a feeling that it was one of those movies where they wanted to make a movie to get some credit or publicity so they decided to make a "horror" movie since it's the easiest. Now, since it is horror I guess they assumed that it doesn't have to be good. In other words, they didn't go into this with full intentions.

Have you seen The Veil or is that based on what I said alone? I dunno, it does look genuine in concept to me (you don't see many halfhearted horror films trying to go the "overtly bleak" route which "Veil" does), just pretty incoherent and thrown-together in places.

I haven't seen The Veil but I've seen enough movies that had a similar review. To me it seems like filmmakers are able to get away with making a bad movie if they market it or produce it as a horror movie. It's like horror is a scapegoat for making a bad movie.
