Anyway... the closest I was to an encounter with a hooker was when I got ditched from some high school "friends" back in New Orleans. The French Quarter is not too bad a place but stay in the light and in the areas of heavy police protection you'll usually be fine... He was actually a young man (he no more 30) who looked like he was falling asleep and had a nosebleed (yes I was an innocent enough not to fully understand either tripping or drunk)âyou look like youâre from out of town?â âyeah - Iâm lostâ :lost: I helped him to his feet, got him a soda only to discover he had gotten beat up because he had asked for pament after *delivering services*? "uh....what? I thought you said you were from out of town" (never mind about the previous statement - both were explained to me later) "I am - I just needed gas money to get back home" I walked with him over to where his car was - the guy at the lot told us his buddies had parked in a tow away zone and had since bailed on the other guy - leaving him with both out of gas car and the hotel bill (explains why he was broke?) just to reveal more of my unusual personality - I asked the attendant if there was *anything* he "could do for the poor guy" (not sure why I asked - both couldâve done something @#$%ed up) :eg: I'm not sure why - but then he said if some sweet thing (me?) was willing to get a cup of coffee for some young screw up (him) he could be a nice guy He filled the guy's tank to full, got us a couple of loaded hot dogs (grilled onion, chili cheese, etc) and told the kid to "be glad there were angels looking out for him," "No - just one" ![]() In case anyone was wondering, I did get home later (had to have my mom pick me up as per the "no questions for 24 hours" rule) but I recently (Friday) found the paper napkin in one of my old books with his IOU and phone number if I ever wanted to get together if he came back to town. I tried calling it when I was at a pay phone at the mall... Whomever answered the phone said he wasn't home yet - said on Fridays he usually left from his job at the auto shop to go to his writing class and could she take a message? "yeah tell him his New Orleans angel called -" and I hung up... Inspired by Bojangles - Angel of Mercy - Friday The 13th - 06-19-2011
