Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Friday The 13th - 03-03-2009

Punch So which one is the Better movie?!

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Dr. Briggs - 03-03-2009

Though I think Cloverfield might take the win (Worse characters, but better horror) for quality, I would give the mist creatures an advantage in a fight.

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Bojangles - 03-03-2009

Both of those were great movies. This is a damn good poll. If we're talking monster vs monster, though...

I'd probably have to go with the mist. There was a HUGE monster in that movie, as well. Not to mention, there were a hell of a lot of them. Spiders that have acid (?) for webs? That's going to be a tough one to beat.

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Friday The 13th - 03-03-2009

I'm rooting for The Mist :esnicker:

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - LokiZee - 03-03-2009

I LOVED The Mist. Even the ending. Even the giant walking vagina in the ending. All around great movie. I dug Cloverfield too. One of my fondest horror movie watch memory is when the bitchy chick is run around and freaking out after being bitten, and I look at my wife and say "I hope that bitch explodes!" just because she was annoying, and 2 seconds later, she EXPLODED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Funny, funny stuff!

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Friday The 13th - 03-03-2009

Oh God I remember her...

Marlena or whatever her name was? Agreed, lol.

I loved the Mist too.

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Rosemary's Baby - 05-09-2009

I HATED The Mist. It pissed me off so bad. I despised the ending. "Uh-oh. We're out of gas. Let's kill ourselves this very second." WTF?!? Stupid! I have a kid. First instinct, protect. Absolutely last is the mercy kill. :letitout: Sorry, very rarely can I find no redeeming quality in something. I don't in this one.

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Friday The 13th - 05-09-2009

I see your point...
That ending did errk me a bit, when he shot his son.
But I guess he felt he had to, or the boy would just be stomped or eaten to death.

You gotta admit, Stephen King is good! Hell of a twist!

I notice usually when there's an ending that ticks people off, people will say it sucks just to divert from the fact that it offended them...

...Ironically however I don't think that's the case with The Mist. I think The Mist was just some upstart trying to act shocking and make an ending that was so ironically depressing, people had to call it great...

As I kinda hinted at before I don't really consider The Mist horror, more like dark scifi. The only "horror" bit was the creepy-ass pharmacy scene. For dark scifi I did enjoy The Mist however, it was a cool scenario and the characters were pretty awesome... Which made the slipshod ending suck all the more.

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Friday The 13th - 05-09-2009

Hey I liked that ending! lol

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - xdgafx - 05-09-2009

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Friday The 13th - 05-10-2009

I know,
whats wrong with the ending? lol.
I admit the whole dead kid is wrong...
I mean It kinda offended / made me sad but...
Stephen King is a genious on this movie!

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Bojangles - 05-11-2009

Well, the ending in the book is different than the ending in the movie. I'll explain, but I'm going to use the spoiler tag. This will spoil the ending of the movie, if you haven't seen it and will also spoil the ending of the book, if you haven't read it.

Reading the book made you realize things better in the movie, though. It's worth a read and it's only a little over 90 pages. I recommend it.

I loved the ending in the movie, by the way. It was epic.

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Friday The 13th - 05-11-2009

I think Stephen King revolutionized horror.
I think The Mist was fucking awesome!

Cloverfield Vs. The Mist - Dr. Briggs - 05-11-2009

I still don't know about "horror". King is a brilliant author, but I really didn't see any truly scary bits in The Mist.

And the reason I didn't like the ending wasn't due to offense over what happened, it was because it seemed just so apparent Mr. Darabont just put the ending in to get street-cred; Not that it was downbeat, but that it seemed superficially-downbeat (Either that or there was a truly artistic reason he had it end that way that I just can't see...)

How did the ending make you think it was just street-cred?
It seemed fine to me, I actually enjoyed it.
I mean it was a damn good twist, that no one seen coming!
