Wife+Baby=No More Movie Theaters - DarkSideofFilm - 05-22-2009

Since I have been married, and even more so since my daughter was born, a trip to the movies to see the next horror release has become a rarity. I am confined to renting from netflix and watching midnight movies locked in the guest room.

So I ask you: what was the last "great" horror movie you have seen in the movie theater?

(I am secretly hoping the answer is none, so that I dont feel deprived!)

Being my age and still without a car (Not to mention miles away from a theater with an easily offended family), I don't often get a chance to go to the theater myself... The last film I saw there was SAW V, which my girlfriend's mom took me to... Before that I saw MIRRORS with them, and those are really the only somewhat close theatrical memories I have.

I remember seeing Jason Goes To Hell at the drive-in theater when I was 11....lol Since then I havent really seen many movies in theater outside of the occasional comic book flick such as The Dark Knight....And yes, as well as being a horror lover I am also a big comic book nerd, sometimes I wonder how I have a fiance.

That has to suck, man. I mean, it's great that you have a family but you don't get to see films in theaters often. On the bright side, Netflix is really cool. Do you do instant streaming as well? I go to the theaters quite often. The last horror movie I saw in theaters that I was really pleased with would have to be Friday The 13th (2009).

Don't feel bad. I've only been to the theaters like twice in my WHOLE life.
And the last movie I remember seeing in theaters was - Titanic. :reddisgust:

Its funny you bring up Titantic. We had to see the crapfest as a school field trip. We were all really stoked when we heard a field trip was coming up and than when we found out it was to see Titantic it was like a punch in the you know whats. Needless to say when we finally went, I would have rather been in school. Other than the scene with the nudity of course, I mean hey, I was a 15 year old at the time, all I ever wanted to see was some titties.Confusedexdev:

Shit they actually let kids watch it? HAHAHA
Titanic wasn't really that bad really.
Then again I am a chick who has the hots for Leonardo. Laughing-satan

The funniest thing we have done is take my new born nephew into the theater with us while watching "The Blair Witch Project." The movie situation gets better as the kiddies get older. Due to financial constraints, we prefer to go rent a couple of scary movies, make a vat of popcorn, take the kid to a grandparent's house and spend the evening at home. That way you can comment, yell and throw popcorn at the screen with no one fussing at you. And, you don't have to deal with annoying people yelling out the ending of the movie or talking on their cell phones. We just went to a drive-in double feature. Great for kids. You can stand up and walk around if you need to. Smile! It gets better.

Am I alone that it'd be worth the no kids admitted rating for a remake that showed more a cute guys bits before dying in these films?
if guys can have a cheap jolly at a woman's expense why can't a female dir get enough money together so that we can enjoy them before their demise?

ok Depp in Nightmare was fun - but c'mon it wasn't that great - felt like a tease...

I think the thing is men just have genitals that have to be covered, womens' boobs are hot, but they're not "naughty" per se... If males had the equivalent to boobs then I would probably more highly endorse them being shown in movies, just to be fair.

Wife+Baby=No More Movie Theaters - Rosemary's Baby - 07-21-2009

Haven't you read the horror movie survival guide?? As soon as a guy whips one of those out, the movie turns into a comedy. Fighting Satan? Whip it out. Satan starts to laugh, fight over.

Wife+Baby=No More Movie Theaters - Dr. Briggs - 07-21-2009

I dunno Rose, Rottweiler has a good long scene right in the middle and that was played straight.
