Friday The 13thSatan's Whip
#1
There exists a secret religious brotherhood dedicated to battling the forces of evil. Claude wants nothing more than to become a member of this order. To prove his worth, he must find a missing priest. With his faith as both defense and weapon, Claude embarks on a bizarre and horrifying quest that will end in a blood-bath of witchcraft, insanity and cannibalism.

Whenever you watch an indie film with very little or no distribution you are always in for a ride. Usually one of two things happens. One the movie is completely terrible and you can't believe you just wasted an hour and half of your life watching a piece of garbage. Or two, the movie blows you away and you can't believe that they haven't gotten a distribution deal yet. I'm proud to say that Satan's Whip is definately the latter.

The fiim begins a little on a serious side and at this point I wasn't sure what to expect. You are following Claude a young priest who is looking to become a member of the "Brotherhood" so he can protect all of mankind from Satan. He is summoned to this room with three very comical priests who finish each others sentences. To top it off they tell him he has to find a missing priest, Father William. The reveal that they sent someone before but he was sent back to them and instruct Claude to look inside a little tray. Inside is that priest as fecal matter. You learn that he was eaten and they sent him back to the brotherhood. After that scene I knew this director had a great sense of humor.

Claude goes on his merry way to find the missing Father William, but not without being robbed by a deaf beggar. He believes it is all a test and eventually believes that God is giving him the signs to find the missing priest. Eventually he discovers where William is and we soon learn that he is about to perform an exorcism on a possessed man. The film continues from there as you encounter to rather horny sisters, their dwarf mother, and insane brother. To tell you anymore of the plot would be robbing you of some great moments in the film.

I have to say Satans Whip is really one of the best indie movies I have seen in years. I was really thrown off guard with all the witty black humor and fantastic dialogue throughout the film. Father William has some witty lines that you really have to hear to believe. This film really creates some great characters with a decent story to create an overall great film.

I think my only gripe about the film would be the last act which came apart alittle bit until the basement sequence. It was a nice little wrap up there. Everything else within the film was very well done and put together. Anything else that I could list that would be a downside to this film would be nit picking.

If you dig your humor as black as your coffee and crazy satan worshipping dwarfs this movie is perfect for you! This is the perfect movie to pop in to your DVD player sit back with a six pack and enjoy. Currently they haven't established any distribution but once they do, you can bet you'll hear about it from us!
