I still find it over rated.

Watched this one myself recently, was very surprised at both the fact that the seeming protagonists were the definite bad guys (it wasn't called Cannibal Holocaust merely for the sake of exploitation, they actually committed a cannibal holocaust!), and was happy to see that the filmmakers managed to make a damn frightening movie regardless (the shaky shot of the rape with the fleeting focuses on the tribesman in the bushes was a very effective bit).

The animal killings made me squeamish, but felt like a cheap way to do so. It's also hard to judge their artistic merit, considering Deodato was criticizing the exploitative method of realistic on-screen violence, but doing the same things himself just to make his point (although it did make me "feel" the message more than any special effects would).

Hard to rate this one's value as a horror film, but as a social commentary, I'd give it a 7.5/10. It really does work as a scathing commentary on cold hearted "showmen," whether Deodato is a hypocrite or not.
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”

I didnt also like the animal killings...Animal abuse is cruel -- and what Cannibal Holocaust showcased makes me sick really. After watching it the horrible content of this film regarding the poor beats remain in my memories for a very long time!

I wasnt happy with the animal killings either-but in Cannibal Ferox they had some little animal tied out so that the big snakes wouldnt get them as they slept and a big anaconda got it -that was nasty and to me unnecessary but there's a lot of stuff in movies unnecessary

Once upon a time, I was walking through an alley when i found a cat, broken and dying in an alley four blocks from my house. There was a cement block, covered in blood next to her. When i got closer to inspect, she meowed pathetically with her jaw hanging gruesomely from her head. There are no words, to express the hatred that coursed through me at that moment. What kind of limp, evil, pathetic person could do such a thing? Torture a live animal, and leave them in the dark to die and suffer.

I've seen the movie in question, and a turtle, muskrat?, Squirell Monkey and pig all had to die, in order for you to watch that film.
Entertainment is one thing, using effects to ensure optimal realism. We have the technology to fake it, so why the hell would they do that?
This movie has BLATENT ANIMAL CRUELTY.
The director should have been charged, and the production team penalized.
There's just no need for it. Most people get squeamish, animal activists rage Tongue
