Tokyo Gore Police
#1
I read about this in Rue Morgue magazine several months ago around the time that the Machine Girl came out. I was able to get my hands on a copy of the Machine Girl but have yet to see Tokyo Gore Police...

We have a small video store down the road from my apartment that's going out of business and they had it on the shelf, but someone stole the DVD out of it..

Has anyone seen this? The trailer looks like a lot of fun!

I have seen it and it's ridiculous. I personally think it's pretty bad because it's so random but I know some people might like it.

I'm probably one of those people you're referring to! I'm actually pretty new to Asian horror but have loved what little I've seen (the Machine Girl and Audition...And something else that was one of the 8 Films to Die For...though I can't remember the name). Thus far they've all been quite a ways out there, but that's what I like in splatter!

If you are new to Asian horror than it's understandable if you like this movie. I suggest renting out the Asian versions of The Eye, Pulse, Audition, 3 Extremes, Dark Water, The Ring and Phone. All of those movies would put Tokyo Gore Police to shame.

Cool, thanks for the recommendations! Asian horror really seems just flat out creepier than most others...and I love how people don't bleed...they just gush blood infinitely. I've heard that the originals remade (and shitty) by America were awesome (the Ring and the Grudge) so I'd love to see them...Also, heard a lot about the Eye and the controversy it caused when it came out...Love it!

Uninvited, my ass.

Yes, that was also a good one. Also, you bring up a good point about the creepiness, Justin. Asian horror focuses heavily on atmosphere, tone and character development so that when a character dies... it's upsetting. The tone and atmosphere make the audience uncomfortable and therefore it gives the director to leeway to scare you. Plus, there is often meaning behind each story and the Asian horror community also focuses heavily on family values and morals.

I would also recommend a movie called Infection. Brilliantly made.

Sweet! I'm moving to from Oak Ridge to Knoxville in less than 2 weeks and after the move, I plan on really stocking up and adding to my horror collection. I'll be sure to add some of those to it!

Please tell me what you think if you get to see it before I do! (I'll post here once I finally get to)

My wife and I are hitting about 4 cons in the next two months, so I'm going to try to look for it (and some of these others). I'll see if I can't post photos of those as we return from them :-)

Look me up whilst you're there; my pals are Repo fanatics as well! XD

Mr. Briggs, do you live in Knoxville? Or do you mean the cons?
