Anyone remember this? It's the Joy Ride of the older generation. If you haven't seen this, and you don't see it within 24 hours of this post....

Yeah, i love movies like this. Ever see Nightmares? It tells 4 stories maybe 5, its been a while since ive seen it. But one of the stories is about this mysterious black truck that pops out of no where and terrorizes this guy on the road. At one point this truck just literally bursts out of the ground! Awesome, creepy ass scene ever for a movie like this. At least in my eye it is! Another one in that movie is about a teen played by Emilio Estevez who is this big gamer and spends alot of time in the arcades etc. Well theres this game he wants to beat and one night he breaks into the arcade to play it and he finally "beats" it, but the game comes to life per say and he is in it for real etc. etc.... im sure you have seen this! Those two stories are my favs in that movie.

Duel is a very awesome movie!!!! It's probably one of the worst situations that you could ever get into while on the road. The best thing is, you never see the truck driver. The pre-Jaws era.

I used to own the VHS and need to get around to buying the DVD. I liked the film a good bit; although the beginning was a little uneasy to get through, it becomes something intense and incredible once it really gets going. I myself liked the lack of a clearly visible truck driver as well, it gave the truck a mysterious and disconnected feel. If we had seen the guy he'd probably just be some pissed off fat dude sick and tired of people passing him on the road XD

I think a lot of old movies, especially movies from the 70s curiously enough, start off really slow and don't get good until the second or even the third half. I didn't have a problem with it in Duel but some movies I did.

You can actually see the truck driver at one point in the movie, when he runs over the old lady's snakes and whatnot. Nothing major but yeah. I never had a problem with it being too slow, I felt that it got going about 5 minutes into the movie actually. Def. one of Spielberg's finest.

I think it's also scary that you don't ever see the driver's face.

Yes and yet you know someone's there because you see an arm and a boot-it's the truck itself that is after him.

I love this flick. It used to come on the tube alot back in the day, but not so much anymore it seems.

I've probably seen it 6-8 times over, and it's a cult classic hands down.
Dennis Weaver did a capable job as usual with relaying the anxiety and fear to the viewers.

If you're a fan of 60's and 70's horror you'll have no problem appreciating the substance of the material. It's not the best piece of work out there - and certainly not the best from Spielberg - but it's simple, and it works.

That's funny... but I do too sometimes.
I'm thankful for all of the big rigs that deliver goods and services to everybody, but man do I hate it when they're screaming up along side of me.

[COLOR="DarkOrange"]The movie really captures my emotions because of its excellent screen-play due to the fact that 95% of the scenes on the film is on the road at high speed.

Spielberg direction was simply awesome and the suspense he molded was fantastic. It's amazing on what one can do with such a simple plot!

Wooh!!! I am about to give Spielberg a round of applause right now...
