The official weekend estimate is $18.4 million. Lower than both parts 3 and 4.

They would've had Paranormal Activity to deal with in October, which has been a powerhouse the past two years for that month. The Thing and The Rum Diary will be released in October, but I don't really expect those to do too well financially. They should really just stop and be happy they were able to milk literally the same movie for five films.

It's no longer about the idea that the essence of death is stalking these people, buy rather how may different Rube Goldberg variations could a person be maimed or slaughtered.

I agree, but it was originally scheduled for August 26th. When Don't Be Afraid of the Dark moved into that weekend, FD5 moved out.

FD5's actual opening is: $18 million.

I am a die hard fan of the series, so when I heard the news spreading about this Final Destination 5, I definitely checked this out, and found out that it is also entertaining as the previous four, and the ways people die in this movie was BRAVO! as in the previous movies as well. And the effects were good, and it had just enough blood to keep most gorehounds well-fed as well.

âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

Well for me Briggs... the suspense factor here is truly full force!!!
In The Final Destination, honestly, I hardly got any planned suspense and everything happened so fast that I am left without a shock in my system. I remembered that in one scene, I even asked my friend "what the hell happened?" because the death scene was so quick that accomplished almost nothing. Here, I can't even trust every little things or death signs or camera close up on an object because some of them may not even have anything to do with the actual death. I mean, I really dont know how he/she will die. Even the trailer does a good job of not showing all the executions. They show parts, but not the actual gore. Excellent job to the editors! *round of applause*

No different than the first one, just different characters you see one ,you see them all.

okay lets get one thing straight here; Halloween Resurrection is the biggest piece of shit ever made. Rob Zombies movie are way better then that because at least he made Michael into a killer again and not some pussy who gets pushed around by a fucking rapper. RZ Halloween 2> Halloween> Ressurection.
and fuck you Final Destination haters, part 5 is easily the best entry in the series next to the first one. I went into the screening with very low expectatons and came out as a faithful fan again. Bring on part 6! :party-smiley-004:

Alright, here I go. I'm a final destination fanatic, with a few quick notes: The main reason the franchise wasn't as successful as it should have been, was David R Ellis.
The first and third instalments were my favourites, both directed and co-writen by James Wong. The reason for this is it's combination of refreshing death scenes and the "it could happen to me" factor. I just wrote a review for the 1st movie today ![]() The second and fourth movies were shittier because of David R Ellis. He's an action stunt man, that has directed a handful of movies, and unfortunetly didn't do the franchise any favours. He's not necessarily a 'bad director', but he's got no style (or talent really). The fifth movie, Directed by Steven Quale (Avatar - second unit director & Titanic second unit director ) was an excellent addition to the franchise. When I found out he was directing, i got quite excited. I found this the most suspenseful one yet, and i also agree with Caftan King&MrBlue
