There is a difference between thriller and horror, though.

not in the 90's -they were "supernatural thrillers" "psychological thrillers" you could find good stuff though at the video stores -not big screen releases -I would watch the previews on the videos then go look for them at the video rental store

Really? All my video stores were black and white. If even an essence of murder was in the movie they'd classify it as a horror. The Talented Mr. Ripley, From Hell, Frailty & Mothman Prophecies were all bookmarked as horror. I believe they are psychological thrillers.

Im not sure now actually the video store I did the most business with was Century Video this little tiny store -the new releases were stacked on the counter so not really organized-I dont recall where they had those but I really were put in thriller though of course Scream, Deep Rising Ghost Ship etc were put in the horror section

Not to mention, at least in my case, the video stores had old obscure horror VHS' such as The Brain, Mystics in Bali, Head of the Family and Evil Ed because they were too cheap to put them on the new technology known as DVD. Mainstream movies were put on DVD but because this was a time when VHS was king, everything was on tape, which meant that obscure horror movies got mainstream rental exposure. I'll never forget those wonderful days.

I recently picked up Ice Cream Man, Maniac Cop and Jack Frost on VHS and never been happier. Two of the three were some of my childhood cornerstones.

I always check the $5 bin at walmart and you should check Big Lots they always sell DVDs for 3 -6 dollars. Sometimes you can find some good movies there. At walmart always check to make sure there is a disc in the case, back in April I bought The Rest Stop double feature for $5 got home removed the shrink wrap and no Disc first time I have heard or seen that happen. returned it and got another movie out of the bin
