BojanglesThe security stickers on DVD's are ridiculous
#1
I hope I am not the only person that hates these fucking things. I mean, they've been my enemy since day one. Seriously, how are you going to put like three stickers on a DVD that's already wrapped in plastic? The plastic I can certainly understand, but the stickers? Are companies afraid that someone is actually going to try stealing that shit? I could see maybe one sticker on the side, but that's it. Just like the ones that come on 360 games. I mean, a brand new DVD is max 20 bucks. Seriously, what the hell? I mean, I know a lot of people who just cut the sticker down the middle and leave it on. I don't like doing that. I like to remove them completely, so I'm screwed. I've found easy ways to do it, but sometimes they will actually rip the cover and I hate that. It doesn't happen often at all, but I seriously just hate removing all those fucking stickers.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I dunno, it's a fun tactile sensation sometimes XD . There have been some lucky times when I just get one sticker... Other times the cover peeks above the plastice and removing the sticker tears off the top ;_; . I dunno, I'd say I'm neutral about them, partly due to my long, untamed fingernails being prime removers.

One tip for those without: use something sharp to tear through the tape along the indentations at the top and bottom, then you've got a better hold to peel the halves off.

I especially hate the ones that come with 3 stickers. I don't know how many times I've broken a nail trying to get those bloody things off.

I'm pretty sure I have a mild case of OCD, what bugs me the most is not just when it rips the cover, but when it just pulls the plastic just enough to stretch it a little so that it makes a little loose bubble. The DVDs that come with a cardboard cover and a little plastic flap that closes on top of it aren't as bad, those stickers are easy to get rid of.

I am with you on the OCD, but my case is a above mild. When I go to buy a dvd I have to go through all of them on the rack to make sure I get the perfect copy. It cant have any damage at all to the slide case it comes in. And then what kills me, I will find a mint copy and get it home and open it and that bullshit security tape on the top of it will either rip the cover or the plastic that holds the cover, and man thats a total mind fuck to me. Every time I look at the case from then on out it will drive me crazy.

I used to take a knife and just slice the sticker in the middle, it makes it easier to rip it off, but you have to be careful not to damage the plastic at the same time. Buying used movies has got to be hell for you. I generally hit garage sales every summer in search of movies, vinyls and magic cards.

Its weird because buying the used dvd and having it be damaged doesnt bother me at all. I guess its because I have no alternative and since its not me damaging it, I dont mind it.

I opened my copy of the rocky horror picture show last night (only had it on vhs, my mother in law thought the dvd would be a nice gift, it was) I almost threw the darn thing across the room, the sticker would not come off, that little part of the sticker that says pull is there just to make you even more angry at it. My husband ended up yanking it out of my hands before smoke started coming out of my ears.
