Annabel the witch

There's a legend in the town where I live that sometime in 1910 a
young women named Annabel was burned as a witch in the area that is now
the John James Audubon State Park. Legend says that she was a local beauty
that lived with her grandmother in a cabin in the woods. Even though she
was extremely beautiful she was never courted by any of the local boys,
because there was a rumor that she and her grandmother were Witches and
that they practice their magic in the woods.
Well one day a young man from a neighboring town heard about her and
decided to see if the rumors were true and try to court her. The man rode
through the woods and when he got there he knocked on the door and when
there was no answered he decided to leave and come back later but before
he got to his horse he heard singing coming from behind the cabin. It was
the young woman dancing naked around what appeared to be a huge fire but
when he got a closer look he realized it was a funeral pier for her
grandmother. The man rode into town as fast as he could and told the towns
people what he had saw.
The people grouped together and went to her cabin where they found further
evidence of witch craft, but no sign of the Annabel; they searched the
woods and found her chanting and sprinkling ashes in what appeared to be a
makeshift graveyard. She was tied to a tree by the towns people where she
confessed to being a witch and that the people buried in her graveyard
were people she and her grandmother had sacrificed. They found her guilty
and sentenced her to burn to death. As she burned she vowed to return and
forever haunt the woods of the town that condemned her.
Those who have seen her say that she appears standing against a tree and
if she gets close to you you'll feel as if you're standing next to a fire.
Some people also say that if she touches you you'll burn to death like she
did. I've seen her once but it wasn't in Audubon Park and when I asked
someone about it they said that all the woods in Henderson used to be
connected so she has no boundaries.
