I wish this one was in 3D, like they did to the recent remake of My Bloody Valentine. Would have been awesome, but the movie still looks like it will be great modernized!:zombie:

That's exactly what I was thinking. If every horror film does it, it could become the "norm" though and we may risk getting tired of it. I LOVED watching MBV in 3D, though. It was definitely a pretty cool experience. That was my first time seeing a 3D flick in theaters.

This thing scares the crap out of me, and not in a good way. They keep talking about making Jason human again and giving him a back story. I grew up on this franchise and don't need to see the motivation of the characters. He is Jason, he kills campers and that is all good.

Plus I watched His Name was Jason and the director (Marcus Nispel) is all proud of the Texas Chainsaw remake (which I think is a travesty). Damn the guy was a music video director for George Michael and Cher! Having him any where near this project is the kiss of death for me. Still I'll check it out, just because I need to see if it is as bad as I think it could be.

Well, it's a remake. It's supposed to take a different direction than the original. If it followed the original we wouldn't even see the adult Jason.

I actually enjoyed the TCM remake. It was something different. The type of remakes I can't stand are the ones that are basically a copy of the original, just with new people in it. Ala The Omen.

See I really didn't like the remake to TCM, I think it was a travesty. I would rather they make more sequels and continue the story. But the truth is even those would probably disappoint me. I'm a big believer in that the movies were great because of the time they were made in, which has passed. That is why, for me anyway, none of the modern attempts to recapture the 80s slasher craze or the 70s gritty horror film work (the exception of course being The Devil's Rejects).

That said I love things like Behind the Mask, which was a new twist on the genre.

Dude, to keep squeezing money outta Jason and Friday the 13th, they HAVE to do things like giving him a back story. Kinda like Rob Zombie did with Halloween. Today people want a deeper experience, and though I love Mr Voorhees just as much as the rest of you gore hounds, I can't blame them. I mean, we've SEEN Jason slaughter his way through 11 films, and I'm getting a bit bored, though it was nice to see Mr. Kruger againSmile:zombie:
Then again, what do I know? I'm a zombie dudeWink

P.S. I'm pretty stoked about the remake. At least these films keep these movieologies around. And YES, I made up that word!!!Smile:zombie:

You're right. That time has passed and unfortunately no one can capture that feeling again. Even thought I liked the TCM remake, I now see your point.

I think RZ read up on too many typical serial killers, and also watch the TCM remake too many times before making the Halloween remake. IMO the TCM remake was so much better than the H remake.
