Port St. Lucie, FL -- A 71-year-old man with no legs took justice into his own hands, keying a car parked in a Walmart SuperCenter parking lot, because he thought the owner was abusing the parking privilege.
Walmart surveillance tape caught Keith Brian Berry exiting his van in a motorized wheelchair and crossing the parking lot to scratch the Nissan from front to back on the driver's side.
The Nissan's driver, a 39-year-old woman, told a store employee she was there picking up her handicapped mother and was inside the store for about 30 minutes. After she came out, she noticed someone had scratched the driver's side of the 2009 Nissan Altima, TCPalm reported.
After he was stopped while exiting the store, Berry made apologies to the store and victim, for the "most stupidest thing" he's ever done. After seeing the able-bodied woman get out of the car, he admitted he didn't think of the possibility that her mother was handicapped, TCPalm reported.
The Nissan did have a handicapped decal dangling from the rear-view mirror.
Berry will appear in court to face a criminal mischief charge. In the meantime, he's been told he will be arrested for trespassing if he attempts to return to Walmart.
