When I was 16 years old my sister, me, and my parents moved into a house in Boomer, WVA. The house was located on ''C Street''. It was the second to last house on the street and close to the river. When you first entered the house you would go into a living room which led into a dinning room. Off to the left of the dinning room was a hallway you entered it my bedroom was on the left, a bathroom my sister and I shared, my sisters room, and in my sisters room was a door which opened to reveal the attic stairs. Going thru the dinning room is the kitchen, another living room, a bedroom, bathroom my parents used, and my parents room. It was around the second month that we lived there. I was wakened out of my sleep in the middle of the night by a pounding. The sound was coming from the attic right above my room. This continued to happen for several nights. I finally asked my sister if she heard it. My sister claims she heard it. We also began being awakened by heavy footsteps late at night and still the loud pounding. The only way to the attic was
to go into my sister's room and open the door that lead to the attic stairs.
There were many times we would get so scared and would end up in the front living room and sleep the rest of the night. Finally, my mom asked us why we were not sleeping in our rooms? We told her what was happening and she told us that she had seen the shadow of a man
in the kitchen one morning. She told us that she did not think that what ever it was would not hurt us. My sister and I mentioned this to a girl we went to high school with. She lived across the street from us. She told me and my sister that they hear a little boy laughing and running up and down there stairs all the time in her house. She also said that sometimes the little boy would bounce a ball at the top of the stairs and that he must drop it. She said that they could hear the ball bouncing down the stairs and then stop by the front door. I came to find out that there are a lot of homes in Boomer bottom and on Boomer Hill that are TRULY HAUNTED!!! I do not know why the little incorporated town of Boomer, WVa is haunted like this. I do know that Boomer was an old mining town and that houses on Boomer Hill and in Boomer Bottom are old company houses. There is also a little hollow that goes up to the old mines. On the Hollow there is what remains of an old company store that belonged to the mines, a cemetery, and an old drive-inn movie
theatre. Whether or not the mines have something to do with the haunting I do not know. I really do not know much more about the town's history. I do not know what was the cause of the loud pounding and heavy walking that would awaken my sister and I from our sleep and scared us.
