This post is for people who've seen Phantasm 4. There will be spoilers.

In the ending of the movie The Tall Man takes the orb out of Michaels head and walks back to his portal and Reggie goes chasing after him and the camera pans back to Mike and it closing in on his eyes then its showing him as a kid from part 1 walking down the street and it gets windy suddenly then Reggie drives by in his ice cream truck and mike gets in they keep driving then you hear older mikes voice echo saying "I'm dying Regge" and Reggie says " you hear something?" And mike has a smirk on his face and says " its just the wind, just the wind" and then the movie pretty much ends. Now I just saw movies the first the time a couple days ago and then watch all 4 in a row yesterday with my dad and he thinks the ending means it was all a dream or possibly he's back in his own dimmension. And I think the same. If you've seen the movie what do you think it means?

I'm an occasional visitor on a Phantasm fan-forum as well, and that is a big topic of debate there. To me, it doesn't symbolize that things were just a dream and/or all normal now. The "just the wind" line brings an air of foreboding to me. I'll go into it deeper later but I gotta go soon.

To me, there are a few theories to what's happening at the end, but the one I'd personally think would kick the most amount of ass if Coscarelli gets around to making Phantasm V is if Reggie actually went to the past and picked a younger Mike up in that point in time.

To expand on that:
*It explains why Reggie put his ice-cream man suit back on
*It could show how Reggie died in part 1, then came back at the end. Simply put, the Reggie that snuck up behind Mike and Jody in the first spacegate scene and eventually died was the one who came back from the future. (though it would admittedly be damn hard to pull THAT off without a lot of needless filler or a downer ending)
*If it doesn't show that, it could just as well create a badass new "timeline" in which Reggie became aware of the tall man's tricks earlier and prevented him from taking Jody and trying to corrupt Mike
*It holds more potential for Mike himself, if the version in the future really was his own entity. Especially so if that Mike somehow survived getting the sphere removed from his head.

That's some crazy and deep stuff I've never even thought of. So then was Phatasm 1 really just a dream or did it happen then he dreamed about it happening and that's what we see then when he wakes up that's reality?
