Dr. BriggsThe seven sinners of horror cinema!
#1
Okay, just a topic that came to me on a whim, probably not worth much but too good to pass up!

Bill Hinzman - envy
Victor Salva - lust
Michael Bay - gluttony
Charles Band - sloth
Bruce Campbell - pride
Michael Haneke - wrath
Mark Burg - greed

Any alternates come to mind? I thought Lucio Fulci would work for "wrath" considering his repeated "scathing commentaries" on the church and society in general, but I figured Haneke would be a more popular and well-known choice. There could be a bunch of people within "greed" but no one came to mind as especially greedy amongst all the others, so I picked the guy who just recently ruined the Saw series through "profitable choices". Michael Bay is obviously not a literal glutton, but instead a glutton for devouring fair to good horror franchises in order to put his own consistently middling spin on them.

Pretty funny.

I just gotta say: If I had a chin like Bruce Campbell's, I'd be proud too.

Mark Burg (or possibly Oren Koules, though the blame is easier to lay on Mark since Oren doesn't make announcements Tongue) was the one who made Kevin Greutert return to Saw 3D when it wasn't a project he wanted, forced every Saw past part III to be a "more marketable" 95 minutes or less, and thought 3D would be a better use of cash than getting good actors back...

So how long do you think until part VIII or the reboot comes out?

As I said before, I'll take their word that 3D will be the last in this canon.

I think they'll eventually remake it, unless remakes fall out of style BIG in years to come (even so, they'd probably remake Saw because Saw has had such success before). I highly doubt it will be a reboot as horror remakes always tend to get a small burst of success and never turn into franchises unlike their superior predecessors. Tongue

My reasoning for gluttony is in the OP; I read Michael Bay as more of a glory hound who wants to get his hands on all the 70s/80s classics in order to throw them to oblivion (like a glutton wants to throw food into his stomach), turning them into (in my opinion) generic crap... whereas Mark Burg is more greedy in my book, as he doesn't even seem to care about the subject matter, instead just wanting the true fans' cash.

If anything Bay would be the person who encompasses all the seven sins.

That is so true.

And he would be okay with that... considering all the remakes he produced.
