What if, somewhat like the remake of Friday the 13th, there could be condensed and ideally improved re-doings of certain franchise installments? I've experimented with cutting sequels together before, trying to take out "iffier" tonal elements and create horror epics in the process (I could maybe post some examples in the future); my question is basically, what if studios employed true fans to do the same things, except with newly shot footage?
Would they be idealized versions of previous films, made with years of knowledge of what worked and what didn't to look back on? Would they suck just out of the idea that the new filmmakers would be trying to outright copy something that was never their own?
I imagine things like an epic cut of the first 6 Friday the 13th films; a cut in which a more suspenseful re-telling the first film takes the first hour or so, followed by the scene from part 2 in which Paul tells the story of Pamela and Jason around the campfire. The "part 2" section would be intercut with the stories from parts 3 and 4 as well, as if to show them happening at the same time (Alex and Chris would be "decoy protagonists" so to speak, and Tommy would be introduced earlier). After that segment, the third hour or so would be Tommy's story from parts 5 and 6.
A Halloween re-telling could foreshadow the "Thorn" story from the beginning, a Puppet Master re-telling would be a historical drama with Toulon's convoluted story better-explained and ending with the opening to the original...
Basically: remakes. But not remakes for the usual reason of "getting more money through wrangling new fans," but for re-validating to old fans stories which may be viewed in retrospect as silly or disappointing (something like how many Saw fans don't want another sequel or remake, but rather a proper part 7). Sort of like what Dragonball Kai is for the shonen crowd, or the final Blade Runner cut for scifi fans.
Note that this thread isn't for discussing how likely it is; that'll just derail the thing, because I'm fully aware it's 99% unlikely. This is purely hypothetical.

âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ
