All has been mostly quiet on the “Paranormal Activity 2″ front has been pretty quiet. There had been a smattering of rumors about who would be the director ever since The Great Director Boondoggle of last year. The hushed words from the dark back rooms had been that they were looking at Brad Anderson, Akiva Goldman, and even Brian De Palma to possibly direct. But moments ago, Oren Peli tweeted that a choice had been made and the director for the next installment of “Paranormal Activity” would be…
Drumroll please.
Kip Williams.
…
Really, I got nothing. He was married to Famke Jensen for a while and did a couple of indie films. Aside from that, he’s kinda tabula rasa. Of course, considering the whole course “Paranormal Activity” has taken, this is par for the course: a movie that came out of nowhere has grabbed a director out of nowhere to help their sophomore effort. It’s not the sexiest choice but it’s probably the choice that makes the most sense. One thing for sure – they’re probably not going to blow their bankroll on the director.
