What do you all think of these employers who don't reply to job applications?
I am SICK TO DEATH of sending off my CV to employer after employer, and never getting a reply. It is extremely depressing.
Worse, on the rare occasions that they do reply, it is always a soul-destroying rejection.
I have over 25 yrs of good admin experience, yet can't get a job anywhere on Merseyside.

I feel your pain :reddisgust:
only things worse is being told that I'm "overqualified"
or I need more experiance...BUT I CAN'T GET MORE EXPERIANCE WITHOUT THE JOB
worse still having to be told I need a permit (which costs X amount of dollars) and certain uniforn article of clothing (more money) to arrive at the place ready to work
and being told a)the job isn't avalible
b)the person who hired me got fired
c) both a and b! exdev:

I keeping hearing that people are told that they're "over qualified." Every time I applied for a job they flat out tell me that I don't have the experience. Personally, they don't respond to job applications because they don't want to deal with you. They don't want to take the time out of their day and they feel that they might avoid a serious confrontation.
I'm with Coraline on this one. How can you gain the experience if nobody is willing to give you the experience? It makes not fucking sense! I feel both of your guy's pain. :reddisgust:

I totally agree with you. It's ridiculous that these self-serving employers are insisting on experience when you can't get the goddam experience in the first place! What planet are these Human Resourcew people on?
Another thing I hate about employers is their annoying tendency to use those stupid personality questionnaires to sift out job applicants. Retail chains are especially guilty of using this dodgy form of recruiting, and I think it's about time the government banned these ridiculous tests and made employers adopt a more sensible method of recruiting.

A lot of times, the reason why they won't hire you at a restaurant or grocery store is because they know you're only there temporarily and that you don't actually want to be a part of their company. They won't take the time and MONEY out of their lives to train somebody who will only be there for a year or two. It sucks, I know but that's just the way it works.

I was an assistant manager at a grocery store for 5 years and then I loved to PA just this year. When I went to apply at a grocery store for an assistant manager position with a resume and a recommendation letter from my old boss, they only offered me a cashier position instead. I told the guy to go FUCK HIMSELF.

A big problem here in So Cal is that there used to be a lot of good paying manifacturing jobs large buisness parks and plenty of employers. With all those jobs more jobs are created for other shit. Then in the 2000's they just vanished poof - gone. Were did they go? Now the only job openings are for low paying service jobs. In plumbing all the fixtures faucets, toilets, and sinks were made in the southern part of the US. Starting around 2003 every fucking thing is made in China. Walk around Wallmart, or Target and look at were that product is made. So a lot of employers can be very picky, or hire someone at a low wage with that large unemployed labor pool out there. We should charge Bush jr with treason. One of our worst Presidents.

I'm going to be controversial here, Evil Bong, and disagree with the fact that Bush was our worst president. I know you said one of the worst but honestly, there were worst presidents then him. Hoover, Carter, Nixon and Johnson to name a few.

Am I the only one who has issues with "interview questions"?
okay I guess they want to see how we'd handle stress but when trying to keep the place from burning down in a grease fire are we really going to stop and think to ourselves "hmm - as a child, I wonder what was my favorite thing to do at the playground...? " :reddisgust:

I generate my own income for a reason. The way companies are run these days are just a HR pathetic nightmare. I'm no good at having a boss or towing the company line and keeping my mouth shut. I'd rather shoot myself than go back to that. I salute all of you that can hack it. I couldn't lol.

Thomas Jefferson had several illegitimate children.

As long as they do their jobs, which nowadays they are not doing. Its like Charlie Sheen, just because he can doesnt me he shouldnt.
