Yes, I am posting my review for Watchmen in horror....for a reason

Alrighty, Me and Rosemary went and seen The Watchmen movie Saturday night, and I was surprised. First off, this really isn't a comic book hero movie, though it does have super heroes in it. It's a drama. First off, the movie starts very slowly, detailing all the major characters, who are very different from each other, and have a ton of personality. Then it gets to the story, which is SUPER COMPLEX with a ton of twists and turns and heart. It's a movie that really makes you think. The little bit of action is the movie is done fairly well to. These are the things I like about it. Beside for the slow start. Now, what I didn't like. MULTIPULE BLUE PENISES! I swear, the movie had a sex scene with boobs, and applause that. But WAY too much blue penis.

Now, the reason I put this under horror. It's not because there are any monsters or aliens or psychos. It's because of the gore!!! Beautiful gore! People getting arms sawed off, and bones snapping and popping out of skin, and heads squished. Damn great movie visually.

So, all in all, this not being a horror movie, or sci-fi, or comic movie, I dug the hell outta it. Almost had a strange Pulp Fiction feel to it, with the grimness of the way it was shot, and the way they did flashbacks.

Oh, and I saw a preview of Quentin Tarantino's new movie with Brad Pitt. It's a nazispoltationn film, which is AWESOME,and it seems to be about a group of soldiers that have to drop into enemy occupied France, and make Nazis scared of them by totally ripping people to shreds!!! Sounds fun. It's called Bastard, and I'm looking forward to it. Any movie tat has Brad Pitt being and almost evil character is good by me. Look at Fight Club and Kalifornia.

That Tarantino flick is a remake of Inglorious Bastards. Well a remake in name only since it appears to be a completely new story. Still it is supposed to be gory as hell. That is if they can get it past the damn censors!

Okay, my turn. Knowing nothing at all about the graphic novel, I went into this movie thinking, comic book movie. I liked Spiderman & Batman & Superman (once upon a time). This movie is NOTHING like them. The whole thing is very dark in atmosphere & tone. There is little to no hope through the whole thing. It is very boring in some parts & very graphic in some parts.

Couldn't they have bought that man a pair of underwear???? Or hell, he could have made some. They were a lot of blue penis shots, which did nothing to further the story line. In fact, it detracted from the story. It was almost as if we weren't supposed to consider it a real penis since it was blue. Watching a sex scene in a full theater was also very uncomfortable to me.

I found a hole in the plot...Just in case anyone gets ticked off...

John is supposed to be working on this huge project as a physicist. He forgets his watch and walks into the room when they are testing whatever it is?? Obviously, he had just been there, as he had left his watch. Did he forget they were going to test? And, they were testing when no one was there?

If you liked the graphic novel, you'll probably love the movie. Gore fans will love the special effects. I won't say that I hated it, but I am not overly fond. Loki is trying to convince me I'll like it better if I see it again. I say Pulp Fiction several times & still don't like it.

And, it's long! I'm not going to say, don't go see it. Just be aware of what you're going to go & sit through.

I might... I doubt it will be in theaters, though. I saw The Dark Knight in theaters (long movie) and got bored. Titanic was koo in theaters, though... It has to be a really good movie to keep me into it for 3 + hours.
