Boy, 13, Kills Father While Learning How to Drive

A father trying to teach his 13-year-old son how to drive was killed in The Bronx last night when the youngster accidentally mowed him down, police said.
Witnesses said the tragedy happened as John Cedeno, 45, was showing the boy how to park on East Tremont Avenue near Schley Avenue in Throgs Neck at about 9 p.m.
The child lost control of the Porsche SUV and slammed into his dad.
"The son was crying, he was screaming," said Peter Torres, who was working nearby at Emilio's Pizza.
The family had just eaten at the Latin Kitchen restaurant, where they are regular customers.
Waiters there said "the boy was asking his father if he could move the car," according to the eatery's owner, Robert Vicente.
The kid got behind the wheel as his dad stood beside the open door, and threw the SUV into reverse, law-enforcement sources said.
The door pinned Cedeno against a tree.
"He was bleeding a lot from his mouth," said a witness, Lin Lin, 19.
Cedeno was pronounced dead at the scene.
The distraught son stood staring at his father's body, crying out, "I hurt him! I hurt him!" a horrified witness said.
Another onlooker said the child's mom was "in shock."
"What a tragedy. It's horrible that poor boy has to deal with that for the rest of his life," the female witness said.
Sources said it is unlikely the son will be charged.
That poor kid will need intense psychiatric treatment.
