Rosemary's BabyPrecognition
#1
I am sure people have heard of precognition. This is not the earth shattering seeing of a complete happening in the future. This is a quieter gentler thought that if (a) happens, then (b) may happen and then it does.
Example: We had a great bassett hound named Gracie. She stayed in the front yard on a chain during the day, in the house at night because she barked. She was the Houdini of bassett hounds. Although she was weighed around 70 lbs, she could get out of the wooden pickets in our fence, hence being chained in a fenced in yard. She could also break her collars, even if they had a heavy duty plastic clasps. Anyway, in the mornings, I would get up and let her out to use the bathroom. Then, when I left for work, 20 mins or so later, I would put her on the chain so she would have to stay in the yard. This particular morning, I woke up and thought, "I'm just going to let her out with me and put her straight on the chain." I had let her out with no second thoughts for 6 months or more. Of course, she's doing the pee pee dance at the front door, so hubby let her out when I was getting dressed. I literally have my stuff & am walking out the front door when we hear that dreaded sound. "Thu-thump" I opened the door & Gracie is laying on the side of the road. I'm not going to go into any specifics, but it was horrible & she died.
So, would this be precognition? It was a small random thought that was easily ignored. But, if I had heeded it, Gracie would have lived. The simple idea that I had thought it was odd in and of itself.
Regardless, if you one day catch yourself second guessing a routine in your life, it may be a good idea to pay attention to it. At the worst, you've caused yourself a moment of discomfort or stress and nothing happens. You may never realize that you've narrowly avoid a small or large personal disaster.

Great post. By the way, it sucks when pets die. Sad
