In talks for a year now, it looks like the project is finally moving forward with word from STYD that Sony's Screen Gems banner has hired John Pogueto to write and direct the sequel.
The story isn't known at the moment, but it's rumored that the infection will be moving from the apartment building to an airport, so this won't be a remake of [Rec] 2, which was released theatrically in Spain last year.
This would mark John Pogue's directorial debut after scripting films like 1998's U.S. Marshals, The Skulls and its DVD sequels, along-with Ghost Ship in 2002. It's said that viewers can expect to see Quarantine 2 debut on DVD, however a theatrical release may still be in the cards. Only time will tell.
