mrbluePlan 9 from Outer Space 3D
#1
The film was originally released in 1959 and has generated a huge cult following since hitting the home entertainment market despite being named the “Worst Movie Ever Made.” Now according to MarketSaw, the film is set to be re-released in theaters this summer and will be converted into 3D.San Diego-based 3D Production & Conversion studio PassmoreLab will handle the 3D conversion of the film. Here’s more info regarding the project via the official press release:“Plan 9 from Outer Space”, was written, produced, directed and edited by Wood, and was originally shot in black and white over 50 years ago. It was restored and colorized by Legend Films in 2006, and will now be converted, frame by frame into full 3D, using Passmorelab’s proprietary conversion technology. It is Legend Film’s colorized version that is being used for the conversion, which will take over 6 weeks to complete at a cost far greater than the film’s original $60,000 production budget.“Converting film demands great attention to detail, especially with a film this old. Rest assured, audiences will be able to enjoy the same film they have always known — complete with the 73 or so production flubs — except now they will see those wires, strings and wobbly flying saucers in spectacular 3D,” smiles Passmore.Plan 9 from Outerspace will be available in select US theaters in limited release and on VOD on various network locations later this summer

Maybe you're right, mrblue
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”

I would much rather see this in black and white and not in 3D.

I've seen it in B&W. I'm looking forward to seeing the 3D. It is a terrible movie.

I think I would rather see a double feature of teh original Plan 9 and Troll 2 while getting a sweaty lapdance from Rosie O'Donnell while listening to Justin Bieber songs on a loop.

Just sayin'.

Sometimes I wonder if 3D really is a revolution or a future flop... but the idea of Plan 9 from outer space stickin' out of the screen sounds sweet... when is the smellorama coming? Cause zombies' rotten flesh could be cool to experience that way...
