Awesome made for television horror movie! Dark Night Of The Scarecrow FINALLY released on DVD! Was released last month (September).
I just finished watching this and i remember when i posted about it months and months ago about it coming to DVD that there may in fact be some new footage shot to answer some questions. Which depending on how a person looks at that could be exciting or even spoil the whole "mystery" of the original feel of the movie. For my personal experience it did always bug me and i know there are others out there who wonder about who the hell was driving the tractor in the end of the movie.....
Well, as promised this question gets answered on the new DVD. There was a very, very small piece of extra footage shot and added into the original Dark Night Of The Scarecrow towards the end during the tractor scene. As a matter of fact its so quick that you might even miss it. So very small piece addition indeed. Which is probably a good thing, because it didnt make the film look tampered with or generic etc in any way. At least in my opinion and i consider myself pretty critical with details like that. I also want to add that i think the transfer to DVD was very good i thought. Very nice picture and sound. There is the option for commentary and also includes the original CBS promo of the release from way back when it first premiered on television. So a nice trip back to old school times in the special features section!
This has always been my favorite made for television horror movie of all time! So i am glad to see it not get ruined in the transfer. And i would recommend it to anyone new to the film or even old fans alike. You can pick it up on Amazon for about $13.99. Once it finally sells out and goes out of print this little gem will shoot up there in price and become a collectible. So get it now while its affordable! Also, be sure to check out the little film on Amazon as well if you check out the DVD. J.D. Feigelson writer and creator is talking a bit about his experience etc with Dark Night Of The Scarecrow and at the end of the short video even hints to maybe a sequel?!?!?! Although im sure if there ever was a sequel, it will never compare to the original in any way, especially after all this time and how things have changed for horror in this day and age. But it will be fun to watch if there is.
