Mr. Briggs Inc. Wrote:I felt that way about part 2 (Though as a horror-comedy it was pretty good!), but IMO part 1 was terrifying, one of the best horror films ever. Demons killing off Ash's friends and brutally mangling him, keeping him constantly surrounded through a night of terror... that's damn scary to me
well this only on my thoughts the special effects are as laughable as they were in the rest of the series, but there's something to be said for a film that takes its chances and goes to the extreme in lieu of lacking resources. People complain about this a lot, but I have to say to them "get a sense of humor." The whole point of the "Evil Dead" series was to mock horror films and show how campy they were and that they could get even worse. It's humor is in that the film tries to take itself seriously, but the lack of a big budget makes this not only impossible, but even funny in spite of the fact that it could conceivable be a serious film. From disgusting horror, shock horror, spookie horror, and even a bit of humor. The only slight down side may be that it was made very low budget. This is covered over by the greatest actor of all time Bruce Campbell. He is a great actor in all movies and this is his start. It is also the start of Sam Raimi's directing career. But I disagree that here is great directing, and great acting,.. Yes there is a great fun, inventive camera angles, and even a little bit of nudity if you like that sort of thing.

I'm sorry but I don't agree at all (Save for the part about the direction, but only early on, that's probably the films greatest weakness); I don't see horror films as camp, certainly not approaching the early 80s (Did they actually say Evil Dead was meant to be that? Honestly even if they did I'd still see it as damn scary), and I most definitely don't comdemn a film for attempting to work with a low-budget. hell, it's how I plan to work myself.
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ

You mean just Bloody Mary or the Urban Legend "sequel"?
...But really, I can see how either one qualifies although I'd say there are worse

AGREED!!
Both Bloody Mary and the Urban Legend one sucked.
I had a friend who was in the Urban Legend sequel and he said it sucked!!

Friday The 13th Wrote:Bloody Mary deserves to be in the WORST HORROR FILM Section lol! well i have to agree wuth this... Yes I can see that There is plenty of violence in this film, but not of the gratuitous variety. Bloody Mary has a thing for gouging out a person's eyes, and Valentine shows us this on several occasions - although not on par with the terrible and tasteless stuff of Eli Roth.Although the gore isn't of the gratuitous variety, the nudity sure is. When a girl calls on Bloody Mary in the mirror, she must be stark naked in the process. This plot detail allows the viewer looks at Jessica Lous and Danni Hamilton. Actress/producer Kim Tyler steps out of a shower for no other reason but for a shot of breasts. There is even a backside shot of a male artist who gets killed by Bloody Mary, while he paints in the buff. And about the story...well.. the weakest part of this film is the story. The way the asylum is operated was handled quite weakly by Valentine. The dialogue wasn't very good either and the character building wasn't very strong. Valentine failed to create a character that we could pull for, as Kim Tyler was hard to like. The acting was not very strong either. Valentine's direction is the saving grace to this film, but Danni Hamilton shows promise as an up and coming actress. She clearly outshines the rest of the cast with her demented-deceiving character. The two actor/producers, Kim Tyler and Matt Borlenghi, aren't that great of thespians. Jessica Lous did an adequate job as the naive little sister of Kim Tyler's character, but she was the first to die at the hands of Bloody Mary.

Hello Everyone this is my first post.
I thought TEETH was excellent. Some of the supporting acting wasn't fantastic, but the character study was perfect, and the gore was over the top hilarious.
The WORST horror movies (95% of them) are the 8 Movies to Die For. All the series, these things suck. With Gravedancers and Crazy Eight leading the pack.

First post, attracted but this thread!
I can't believe this hasn't been said yet. The WORST horror movie of all time is Exorcist: The Beginning.
I like anything with Blood, guts, cheese, or a combo of any of those. This movie has NONE of it. I get past bad acting very easy when it comes to horror if there is one of the mentioned... or titties, but this movie has none. The story line is filled with holes, the acting is not even sub par, there is virtually no blood/guts, and the effects are something I could do with my home PC and a pirated copy of Mia. 100% the worst movie I have ever seen and deserves the #1 spot.

Sweet Jesus with red peppercorn gravy! Zach even stole these comments from IMDb comments. *facepalms*

My vote would probably have to go with "The Many Deaths of Ian Stone" from the 8 Movies to Die series. It is the "Highlander 2" of horror movies.

I think an awful horror film can still be really entertaining, especially the low-budget shlock horror.
In my mind, the absolute worst horror films bore me to death for lack of imagination. Take any of the recent movies with haunted video games or haunted prep school kids for example.
