Oh I loved the religious commentary. Hell, if I can watch the film again... I can write an entire article about it because it makes a lot of good points about it's fallacies. You are right that it is a spin on the typical Catholic family too. Now that I think about it, that's something that it was missing too... I wanted to see Cotton struggle with his faith after seeing Nell. However, I think throughout the entire film he is 100% convinced that she is not possessed. Perhaps in his mind, he is in denial.
