Quite familiar with both Caroline and Friday's problems. Caroline should try the expensive Virtuallab and Friday... well it depends. What kind of Internet you got? If it's wireless, switch it to a default "on" as opposed to being controlled by a wireless switch (how I solved my biggest problem in that dept.). If it's not, there are apparently tons of ways online to make your computer run faster in general.
